Hi Diane,

It was not painful for me. Just felt wierd for the 20 seconds it took to remove it.  However, if you are in pain from it, call your Doc. Don't go through the night in pain please.

I didn't think getting the drain out was bad at all.  It was way longer than I expected. I envisioned maybe 3-4 inches of tube inside, but I think it was over a foot long.

Is there a device in there holding the drain or do they just pull it out? Same Dr office as you so curious about this...

Stitches (not sure if that's the technical term) hold the drain in place. Melissa snipped the stiches and then she just pulled out the tube.  I wonder, is the area around the drain or stitches red? Is that what's hurting you?

Hold your breath and expect the drain to be 3 times as long as  you expect. Mine hurt like heck coming out. Took my breath away. Feels SOOO much better after its out.

Please spay and neuter your pets!

I was warned that the drain would really hurt coming out, and I'm a total wimp when it comes to pain, and it didn't hurt at all!!  The nurse actually pulled it out before I knew it - I told her I was nervous about it and she kind of "tricked" me (I was thankful for that).  It was sore for me before I got it out - I think the skin was irritated at the opening, but then it was fine once it was gone.  It will be such a relief for you to have it gone.  Good luck!

I hope the pain is gone.  I think the less you know about the drain coming out, the better!  Dr. Pierce took mine out.  I felt like I was in a horror movie and they were ripping my guts out.  Not pain, just weird!!!!!!  Donna said he did it too slow, and she would have done it faster!  You'll feel so much better after it's out.
