I'm so hungry!!!
this is my first posting, so bear with me! I have surgery scheduled on May 5, so i am on day 6 of my pre-op liquid diet. My dietician said I shouldn't be hungry after 3 or 4 days! Any suggestions...I keep telling myself that I can do anything for a couple of weeks, but this is making me so crabby...and my family is paying for it...which isn't fair to them!!!
My surgery is scheduled for May 4, so I am right there with you - I am starving as well! Time for a sugar free popsicle!! It's really frustrating, I get really full when I eat my meals, then a couple hours later i'm starving! Hang in there, we can do this!!
I can do this, I can do this, I can do this - AND SO CAN YOU!!

Im not saying to go ahead, but at the very least ask if you can have some fat free protein, such as egg whites, lean chicken, etc. The purpose of the LD is to reduce your liver. LD is the most effective way. I was on the LD during a period of time where I needed extra calories for my job. My NUT told me I could eat egg whites so I boiled a bunch, removed the yolks, added some cayenne and it got me through and my liver was reduced. The NUTS don't tell you that you can do that because pretty soon you start rationalizing and before you know it, you have gotten way off track.
Another thing that helps is warm chicken broth with some protein powder mixed in. I also like V8 with flavorless protein powder.
The LD sucks, but the end is well worth it.

I went through St. Joes, HealthEast as well. I know that I was allowed to have cream of wheat cereal and I made it with milk. That is not something that I would ever have eatten prior to the liquid diet, but I was straving as well. I had some in the evening around 8:00pm because it seemed to fill my stomach up enough so that I could sleep. It tasted great with alittle slenda. If it is still on the list I would highly recommend it.
Your date is coming soon, I actually found the last week the hardest. Good Luck!!

I remember the liquid diet stage.....IT was HELL! I was starving, I ate a bowl of tomato soup one evening (it was liquid) lol. The next day I called the Weight Loss team and she said "NO" only clear liquids, protein drink, yuk. S/F popsicles. oh and JELLO. 2weeks of starving, well at night I did eat a piece of deli meat not much just enough to take the hunger away. Well I lived and now I am 4 months out, and eating food. Good luck to you on this Journey, oh and I have no regrets, would do it again if I had to.
Welcome to the boards... I am a lurker myself most of the time :o) Can you run away for one more week so your family is happy :o) j/k It must seem like May 5th is years away to you right now, but think of how fast life flies by us most of the time... I know you can do it. I'm Sending prayers your way!
I bet your lovely kids and husband will be able to put up with your "crabbies" for a while if it means that they will have a VERY HAPPY momma in a few months! Hang in there, you are inspiring all us pre-ops!
Love ya sis ;o)

What are you supposed to drink on the LD?
With PNC we coud have 3-5 slim fast/ensure/Boost/Carnation Instant Breakfast a day. Can you have another shake? I'm right there with you. The LD was almost the hardest part of the whole WLS shebang. Especially since they told me Ensure was lactose-free and it made me sick for 7 days before realizing that was the problem.
See if they'll allow Yogurt too.
