Secret Passions?

Well, besides that......Seriously, though, what have you come to enjoy that you didn't or couldn't before WLS?  For me, walking and thinking have brought me both answers and some inner peace, so I think that tops the list for me, followed by writing about what I had been thinking.  At the outset of my journey I started walking a little bit at a time, maybe 1/4 or 1/2 mile.  At first, all I could focus on were my aching feet, being out of breath and wondering how sweaty I would get.  Before long, I had chafed my inner thighs until they were raw and bleeding.  For 3 or 4 weeks I wore giant bandaids and waited and waited for the rawness to abate.  I often wondered what people would think if they knew I was wearing those giant bandaids there.  These days, I usually walk at least 3 miles a day with an average somewhere between 4 and 5 miles.  I have worn out 4 pairs of shoes over the last 14 months.

So what is your secret passion and why?  Is it dancing, playing the ukelele, water skiing, or something else interesting?  I mean, really, you can tell us, you are among friends here.

This isn't really a secret passion, but I just love the fact that I "fit" now.  I don't give it a second thought that I'll fit in any chair, airplane seat, booth, be able to squeeze by you in a cramped aisle and not bump you with my butt...unless I want to....hehe...

I can fit in my car seat belt and not get choked to death, I can fit into high cut panties and not have my gut hanging out the bottom, I can fit into my jeans with a shirt tucked in and a belt.  I don't care if that shirt or sweater is a bit short, I don't need it to cover my gut and butt,  I can fit into normal clothes and shop in any store or catalog except "Lane Giant".  A size large is usually too large.

I can fit into a Jacuzzi tub with my husband not take more room than him, and this is TMI, but I can be on top without feeling self-conscious.  I don't care if he knows how much I weigh, and my driver's license is actually right.

Just fitting in the world is probably my #2 thrill from losing weight, right after the #1 thrill of just improving my health and having people in my life who never knew me fat.

"and this is TMI, but I can be on top without feeling self-conscious."

Now, THIS is what I'm talking about - some of the things I (and my hubby) are looking foward to fall into the TMI category!  I'm glad someone else feels the same way!

I can do this, I can do this, I can do this - AND SO CAN YOU!!

I'm with Lori....  I am only 4 months out from my RNY, but it feels sooooo good to be able to fit into a booth (without my stomach rubbing the table) and when I get in the car I don't have to move the seat all the way back! I really need to start getting on track with the exercising though. wish me luck with that, lol.

Great post RP.

I love love love to dance just like Kelly... but that's something I also did before WLS... but not much because I felt too fat and too tired.

What else.... I enjoy seeing my body in new clothes... maybe it's less SEEING it, since that's hard for me.. but more so FEELING it. I can feel that I don't have as many rolls and that it doesn't hurt as much because my pants aren't right, etc.

I enjoy being able to move at the speed I feel in my head. Before, I'd constantly sprain my ankle the minute I moved a little too quick. But so far...my body has bounced back very well!

Sitting here reading every ones posts and thinking I don't have a secret passion. The more I read and thought I finally came up with one big thing. Sometimes I forget about these things.

I enjoy the feel of my hip bones! Yes, I know that may sound odd but I had not felt them in many years. If I am just standing around talking to people I find myself clutching my sides with my forearms of placing hands on my hip bones. I am always in touch with them LOL

When I go to bed at night I think it is one of the last things I do is feel how much my hip bones stick out while I am laying down. I guess people say I have collar bones sticking out too, that is not an amusing high point for me LOL its hip bones!

Totally agree with Kelly its my hip bones the feeling of them.  I even like that I'm in pain more because I don't have extra padding around my hip bones when I lie down to long I hurt.   Just means I have to get up and move more and I like that I want to move more.

I'm still pretty early out but I've taken up ZUMBA and it is a riot.  In addition to the classes and my workout routine, I find myself playing more Latin music now while I'm working in the kitchen/doing housework, etc. and incorporating a little more movement into everyday things. I also love to dance, but am still too self/fat-concious for "touch" so the ZUMBA is a great alternative.
I have to admit that there is a certain pleasure or relief to be able to fit in a booth, or at least not to have to ask for a table when being seated in a restaurant.  I used to cycle quite regularly and and trying to work up the nerve to get on the bicycle again.

Things I love to do now:
pilates, walk, jog, try on clothes, buy shoes, stairs, putting on makeup, doing my hair, fit into the airplane seat, squish between things, be with my new friends, fit into my car with comfort, feel my bones, cross my legs, look in the mirror, laugh, be me, love life.
