Do You Have a Favorite Poem or Verse (long)?
Here's one that's on my fridge. It's short and sweet but can speak to someone on many levels:
As I Think---I Make Choices
As I Make Choices---I Form Habits
As I Form Habits---I Fix the Direction of my Life.
If I Am to Live Differently---I Must Form New Habits
If I Form New Habits---I Must Make New Choices
If I Am To Make New Choices---I Must Do New Thinking
As I Think---I Make Choices
As I Make Choices---I Form Habits
As I Form Habits---I Fix the Direction of my Life.
If I Am to Live Differently---I Must Form New Habits
If I Form New Habits---I Must Make New Choices
If I Am To Make New Choices---I Must Do New Thinking

It's better to be imperfectly happy than perfectly unhappy.

I want to share with you that you have inspired me once again! My daughter graduates next month and I have been trying to think of something very meaningful to give her. It just hit me that as I mentioned with this poem. My sister that passed was a beautiful artist and again this was one of her favorite, so she painted and wrote it out beautiful and gave all of us one many years ago. This will be my graduation present to my daughter !! how great is that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have to say this one inspires me - When I was 21 and working at a YMCA camp one summer, a counselor presented this with one twist - he said to replace the word "love" with your own name, and the word "it" with he or she, as is appropriate. Gave the verse a whole new, more profound meaning. An ideal to try to live by. We had a friend read it at our wedding... It is a portion of 1 Corinthians 13:
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Amy - I LOVE the poem by Timo Cruz I've never seen that but boy does that speak to me!
My favorite quote is from Ralph Waldo Emerson:
What Lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
My favorite prayer is the Serenity Prayer:
God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
(These two sentences say so much to me, my Dad always said growing up and still says when I get worked up. Sal, don't take life so seriously.)
My favorite quote from my Dad is:
A lot of good will power does for ya when you have the diarrhea. (HAHAHA!) love that! He came up with that when we were having a discussion about will power. I made a little plaque for my bathroom with that saying on it and you wouldn't believe the conversation piece it has been!
