some more questions...
I was a little nervous telling people too but I'm kind of lucky in the fact of the small group of people I work with 3 of us (including my supervisor) have had successful surgeries.
Yes your body and your inner self will change after surgery but its up to you on how you handle those changes. I think your attitude about doing this for YOU is a great one to have.

Of course there are horror stories. People always remember the bad stuff, but how many success stories has she shared with you! Yes, WLS, LIKE ANY SURGERY, comes with risks, but so does getting in your car every morning or walking across the street!
Take a look around on this board, there are FAR more success stories than horror stories and there's even a few people here that had a not so great post-op experience that STILL would do WLS again in a nano-second.
The thing is, that this surgery is not for the faint of heart. They do surgery on your stomach, not your head - for many, this journey uncovers many things they had no idea existed in their life - the head games are some days overwhelming, but I'm pretty sure that 98% of people that have had WLS would tell you that it was the best decision they ever made and they wished they would have done it sooner.
Don't listen to the nay-sayers - Just respond, "I'm sure that kind of stuff can happen, but it's rare and I have to do what is right for me."
Take care and hugs!
