Cream soups???

So I have really been struggling with this full liquid diet. I only have one more week of it but I finding myself more on the clear liquids than full. I think that I have tried about all and any cream soups that I can find and so far only the cream of potato has even somewhat tolerable. So today I went out and searched the Internet for a homemade cream soup and found one that is remarkable. It is a Potato and Ham cream soup. I will be enjoying "my" full liquid diet for the next week.

Now I just don't understand why some Dr's allow you to have pudding and malt-o-meal during your full liquid diet and others don't. Mine does not allow those items. They consider them to be pureed.
It is very fustrating and difficult to not eat those items.

Can you send the recipe? I, too, am allowed cream soups after surgery - that sounds wonderful!  I'd have to check with my NUT, though, I don't know if it can have potato in it.

I can do this, I can do this, I can do this - AND SO CAN YOU!!

I don't know why there is such a difference either. The first two weeks after surgery I can be on full liquids/pureed foods. Then I graduate to soft foods for 6-8 weeks. I only am on clear liquids while in the hospital..

See that is exactly what I'm saying why is it that they are all so different? The surgery is the same? Just different orders afterwards???

Because each surgeon has found that a different program works best for them and that's what they preach. You need to follow your program to a T, and be sure to ask if you're not sure if you can eat something or not.

I would have broken the full liquids by now, so good for you for sticking to your surgeon's post-op dietary plan. But then again, I came home on pureed & had a different surgery than you.

Watch the potatos though, they could backfire on you.

Try to beef up the protein in the soup by using unflavored Unjury protein powder mixed in to a single serving.

Good luck!
