Yes, my surgeon, PCP and gynecologist were OK with doing the surgery *with* the Nuvaring in! None of the three seemed to be worried about blood clotting. (Although admittedly, I thought about it!) The only thing that came up was how I was taking BC- after surgery, you can't really take pills for a while. That makes sense. Also, I believe they said with pill form BC, the hormone has to be broken down in the gut and liver, whereas with something like the Nuvaring or IUD, the hormone is instead directly delivered to the vagina/uterus. Does that mean that oral BC pills could potentially not get metabolized correctly after WLS? I'm not sure. Apparently though, they thought the Nuvaring or IUD was ok, so it was either continue with pill form and stop for a bit or switch to the Nuvaring and keep it in. (My doc wouldn't do IUS/IUD because I haven't had a kid! Dumb!)

All of that being said... I totally just looked at Nuvaring's official website and even there is it suggested to stop 3 weeks before surgery and start again 2 weeks after surgery!!! WTF?! Thank goodness I didn't have trouble!
