Persistence pays when it comes to insurance

So my WLS office called me at work on Tuesday morning and reported that they had faxed my information over to Health Partners and the approval process was started. So I called Wed afternoon to check.. nope.. sorry.. no claim on file yet. But can take 24hrs to post in our system.. so be patient...

Well okay.. I was.. kind of.. I called again this morning. Nope, no claim in our system? So I called the WLS office again.. and the lady said oh okay, well I can call later this afternoon to check if they recieved it if you'd like? If I'd like? You're damn right I'd LIKE!! (I didn't say that) I was seriously like uh, do you not call a few days after you submit approval claims to make sure they have been recieved or processed? When I was doing approvals for a medical office, I did!

So the super nice rep I got at Health Partners this afternoon put me on hold, called my WLS office for me, was having them personally fax them over the paper work, and she came back to say she's personally make sure it got to the correct claim person and processed. Phew...

So that's my advice to everyone who is pre-op and submitting insurance.. and thank you to those who pushed me on to call and double check they recieved anything. Take the reins because its your insurance and your life changing surgery... Definately make sure they recieve your claim. If I had let it go two more weeks could have gone by before I called. I'm pissed 4 days later they just recieved it.. GRRRR That puts me 4 days behind an approval....

I was so pissed when my therapist's office dropped the ball with my psych eval.  It took them 1 1/2 weeks to get that stupid thing completed and faxed to my WLS office.

I'm really glad I called both the WLS office and insurance on Wednesday to make sure things were in the right place. As the song goes... the waiting is the hardest part. Bleh.

I called again this morning and HP still didn't have it! So I called the WLS office and she was like okay, well I suppose i can call later to check on it.. I was thinking uh yah, you better???!!!???

So at 3pm I called HP again and nope, still no record of it.. I got a super nice rep and she asked which office I ws going to and she called them for me, and had them fax directly to her so she could get the claims to the right people.  I was actually kinda pissed at the office .. i had talked to them on wed after work and told them that HP didn't have the stuff and she made me feel like she just brushed it off.
