Psych Info, please read - need your feedback
Recently, I had the opportunity to talk with the incredible Lana Boutacoff. For those of you who don't know the name, she is a psychologist who specialized in weight loss surgery patients. She's done her share of psych evals for patients preparing for WLS, that's for sure!
Last year, she went into retirement, but has since come out of that to write a paper with Dr. Ikrammudin. So, she will be available to us after 6/28/09 for about 12 - 18 months.
If people want to see her while she's here, she asked that you please email her directly at [email protected] .
She is a provider for HealthPartners, Medica, and BCBS.
Also, she offered that she is willing to facilitate a group session for any of us that would be interested. I'm not sure how to ask the board who's interested in that, but I guess just respond to this thread or PM me if that's more comfortable for you. I will be talking to her again next week and would like to give her some idea of the interest level.
One final note. Lana stated that if someone was not comfortable working with her, but wanted another resource that is closer to their home or work, just to email her with your location & health insurance provider and she would be glad to recommend a professional for you that she knows specializes in bariatric patients.
Whether it's struggles with food, alcohol, transfer addictions, sexual relationships, social situations, marital, wrapping your brain around this thing, etc. - you name it - Lana has dealt with it.
This is a golden opportunity people! Reach out to her because I really don't think you'll find anyone who understands bariatrics better. 30 years in this field - the woman knows her stuff!
