Will I fit into my pants after surgery?!

Hi Everyone,

I was curious about how much swelling there is after surgery.  This weekend I bought some pajama pants that are 1 size larger than what I currently wear.  I am thinking that my stomach will be a bit "puffy".  Is this true?  If so, how long will it take for it to go down?

Hi Stephanie-

The PJ pants should work just fine.  You will be a little puffy from the gas, but that typically goes away pretty quickly.

Hi Stephanie - I don't remember being puffy at all, you'll be fine.  Best wishes for a straight forward surgery and an easy recovery!!

I bought a really simple cotton pull over dress that crosses in the front on the top, to wear to and home from the hospital..  I figured the less i have to rub on my belly the better.. and i have multiple sets of drawstring "loose" fitting pj's at home to wear..

Not puffy, but perhaps a little sore at incision site(s).
Are you open or lap?

I think I wore the same sweats home that I wore to the hospital.  The swelling is just air.  Hopefully, if you walk around enough, you will leave it at th hospital, if you know what I mean!!

Thanks for the feedback!  I'm going to wear my comfy pajama pants!  Just curious if I would be leaving the hospital looking like I came from the Maternity Ward!!!

I bought this huuuuuuuuuuuge tshirt and pants to wear home but I wasn't as swelled up as I thought I'd be. It's really not that bad. But yes you will be sore. Good to bring a pillow to put between you and the seatbelt for the way home.
