Question

I am having surgery tomorrow morning - YAY!!  and was wondering how soon the weight will come off.  I understand there will be fluid issues and I won't come out of the hospital weighing less, so, a week, what?

Also - during the puree phase, did anyone eat babyfood?  Is that considered a puree?  I will ask my NUT, of course, but just wondering.

Thanks for all the well wishes!!

I think you can eat baby food... I did once.

Some people come out of surgery weighing 5 - 20lbs more. TIP: Don't WEIGH yourself if that freaks you out.

Let the surgery take its course. It'll take some time. The first month to month and a half are all about healing. Heal up, stay safe and you'll do great!

I gained 15 lbs in the hospital and nearly had a stroke. (not literally!)  By six weeks out, I was down about 40 lbs.  That's about all I remember early on!

Good Luck tomorrow and welcome to our crazy world!

That's kind of what I was expecting!  I won't weigh myself until my two week check with my surgeon, just rest, heal, walk and sip!!

Thanks!

Yes, you can eat baby food.  Like Elena, I tried it once and never again!  It doesn't really taste like you think it would.    Those poor babies!

My program said that 20-25 lbs. a month was on target for me and that's pretty much what happened the first few months.  I gained about 15 lbs. in the hospital, too, from all the fluids.

Hey girlfriend!  CONGRATULATIONS on surgery tomorrow!  It's been a long haul to get here so just think positive and realize this is the best choice you have made ever in your life for your health.
I gained 8lbs.  They weighed me before surgery and after and that's how many I gained.  I didn't weigh myself the  first week at all.  I believe it was like 10-12 days after surgery after I got up and started moving around a bit.
I tried the baby food - YUCK YUCK YUCK can't do it!
Good luck darlin - abbott has computers in the family waiting areas so hop on when you can!

Thanks, Sal!  I'm going to be at St. Joe's, and I don't know what they have for computers, I wish I had a laptop!!

For everyone who tried and hated the baby food, is it really that much worse than putting turkey in a blender??  Just the thought is disgusting!  That's the part I am really not looking forward to - yuck!

The fruit and fruit desserts of baby food taste decent (yes okay people I bought some to try) but the baby food "meals" and "meat" is disgusting. Better off getting a rotisserie chicken or ground turkey or chicken and blending it with some low sodium broth.FF gravy, or cream soup.. plus that way you get to season it however you want to.
