Newbie here on board - VSG and research surgery ???'s

The new surgery Dr. I is performing is called TOGA.  I would honestly not touch it with a ten-foot pole (and I respect Dr. I very much - I might have had surgery with him had my ins covered lap DS.)  It's not yet proven and while it would be nice to have WLS without an incision or a few lap incisions, it's similar to the old VBG (aka stomach stapling) which had a low success rate and is not performed very often anymore.

I also had a DS and I'm very happy with it.  It's not for everyone, but it's definitely worth researching.

I believe that Dr. Medlin at the Duluth Clinic is doing VSG now.

Thanks for the info on that.  I will have to check in to it.  I find it really amazing that I cannot find very few if any MD's that will do this procedure here in Minnesota.  Minnesota is usually are little more on top of the new advances in the medical field.
