Hi all!

Can't believe in a couple days it will almost be a week since I had surgery.  I'm so happy that it is over with and that I am in the baby stages of my journey.

The surgery went well.  I was a bit anxious in recovery, but once they took my nose tube out I felt a little better.  Pain was moderate for me.  Once I got to my room I just kept thinking, "stay ahead of the pain"!  Boy, I sure did!  I hit that morphine pump like crazy and I ended up having the worst nausea ever!  I get migraines and get pretty nauseous, but that was a cake walk for what I was going through.  I mean every thought went through my mind from "why the hell did I have this stupid surgery" to "somethings wrong"!  I ended up going overboard on the morphine.  I was very naive and did not know that was possible, since it was so controlled.  When the nurse ask another to see how often I had been taking it, she stated that I was taking too much.  I never pressed that button again and finally felt better in about 6 hours.  I was discharged Thursday morning and was so happy to be home.

At home, trying to rest, but wow that's hard with a 4 year old.  It's hard to step back and let my husband take charge.  I work one day a week, so my daughter and I have a routine and we are a bit out of wack - but, so what?!?  I went to Target with the family on Saturday only to find out I was not ready for an outing.  My husband had to drive me home and go back - oops!  I started getting sharp pains and was extremely fatigued.  I've had some family in town and they have helped me and will continue to help me tomorrow, since my daughter will be back to preschool.

So far liquids are going well, but I'm like Therese and will be ready to get to the pureed/soft foods stage.  And...I wasn't even on a liquid diet prior to surgery.  I also notice how much food (chewing) really does clean your teeth.  At the end of the day I feel like my teeth are wearing sweaters!!  Gross, I know.

Glad to be back, hope everyone is doing well!

Take care,
Stephanie

Hooray for you Stephanie!!  I'm glad to hear that things are going well so far.  You will make it to the next stage of food soon and shed those "sweaters" just like you do for the spring!!

I was also glad to read that you are resting.  I know how hard it is to slow down and let someone take care of you when you are used to being the caregiver.  You will be ready for that outing soon- just keep walking and drinking.  Don't forget your vitamins!!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Glad to hear you're doing well!!  I've been up and around pretty much since surgery, but still notice that I do get tired easily.  I just nap when I feel the need.  It's amazing how our bodies tell us what they need.  Sounds like you're doing everything right!  Hang in there!

I can do this, I can do this, I can do this - AND SO CAN YOU!!

Hey Stephanie,

I am glad to hear things are going well for ya.

River Falls coffee for this weekend is cancelled for now.  The Hotspot has closed down.  I will keep looking for unique places that we can get together around the area when I visit my parents.

Keep posting updates.  Remember to sip, walk, rest, and take your vitamins.  Hope to see you at coffee soon.

Congrats!  And take it easy for a while, would ya?  You may feel fine, but your body is recovering from major surgery.  LET IT.  You don't want to take one step forward and then two back, you want to take two steps forward, and hopefully NO steps back!

Again, CONGRATS TO YOU!!!
