Giving thanks...

This week I have been really thinking about who I am thankful for during the last year of my journey. With all the work we put in, the changes that cause relationship problems and the stresses in our life... we (or at least I) sometimes forget to thank to people who have truly been great supporters through our weight loss journey. I just wanted to take the time to publically post about the people I appreciate and who have helped me get to my new healthier self.

WHO ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR DURING THIS JOURNEY... AND WHY?

Me?

MOM: She compliments my weight loss every time she sees me, she (along with my dad) fit the bill for my fills and parts of the surgery that insurance didn't cover. She has been there for my frustration days, my gallbladder surgery, my crying fits, my stalls, etc.

DAD: He has paid for everything tied to my surgery. Without that... I could not have done ANY of this.

SISTER: She has come to every surgery - LapBand and gallbladder and has complimented me as I creep closer to her weight

GREG: My best friend has been here through thick and thin, literally. He changed his food habits for me, forces me to exercise, takes food away from me when I want to overeat, knows all my band rules, has given me time to go meet OH people for support and do support things without complaining about my time away. When I did liquid diets or plateau busters... he did them with me. He didn't bring soda into the house and hid all his treats in his bedroom. Without him... I would not be where I am today.

CJ: My ex has actually been a great supporter through this... oddly enough. He comes over and cooks meals that are high protein, low carb and has been happy for me with every new experience I have. He also has a weight problem so he could have very likely loathed my weight loss... but he doesn't.

OH/PNC friends: I have been able to get together with and make friends with some of the best people in the world. They accepted me when I walked into support group at 304lbs.... and they accept me now. I have texted, called, e-mailed with a lot of supportive people through the stresses in my life and they have kept me grounded and away from food and bad habits. Most of all... you have all encouraged me to come out of my fat shell and try things I would have never tried before.

MY GAL PALS: I have a group of 3 gal pals that I've known for years. I don't see them often, but when I DO they compliment the heck out of my weight loss. I feared they would get angry or jealous about my progress but they have been nothing but supportive.

2019: 11 years out and maintaining a loss of 150lbs.
