Dealing with stress?
How do you deal with stress that's short-lived and stress that's ongoing?
I realize that I tend to sleep a lot when I have stress in my life. It's better than eating for me. I am the type of person that can't stop thinking about what stresses me out though and it in turn makes me even MORE stressed.
Hi Elena,
For me, stress seems to show in the form of insomnia. When it's night time, everyone is quiet & asleep, my mind starts racing. I call it analysis paralysis! My relief is with a prescription.
But, if it's during the day, I try to get myself out of the house just so I am not sequestering myself and making any time for negative self talk, etc. I'll walk around my neighborhood and harass my neighbors or I'll just go to Target and browse (try not to spend $$) looking at books, magazines, etc. Also, what works is to talk to someone about what I'm stressing about. For me, it doesn't help one bit to keep it inside.
I try not to show my stress in front of my 4 year old daughter. One of the days prior to surgery I was crying (nerves) and she told me that she couldn't play with me if I was going to "act like that"! So, what do you say to that?!?

Hugs to you,
Marsha
