Apparently I had a small stroke.  I carry none of the risk factors for stroke.  My BP is normal.  All my blood work is normal.  My heart appears to be normal...and yet my MRI last Wednesday revealed that I did indeed have some sort of mild stroke event.

In some ways I am happy to hear this news, because it is finally an answer.  But now we are all scratching our heads to figure out why.  I need to figure this out soon so we can hopefully prevent another one.  I guess we just added stroke to my family history.

In the meantime, the neurologist does assure me that full recovery is very common and expected. But I'm guessing I'll be on Plavix for a long time.  And I have to say that I've seen some very small improvements.  The burning cold sensation I was getting on my hand has toned down quite a bit, and some feeling in my cheek has returned, so perhaps I'll get beyond this someday and move on.  But nonetheless, I broke the stroke seal and am now at higher risk.

Thank God I've lost the weight, cuz at 400+ lbs the outcome could have been way different.  As soon as I know anything new, I'll pass along the update.  I appreciate the prayers....love you guys.

Wow...    I've always known you're a little different, Paul, but to go re-write your family's medical history?

Just teasing...  I'm glad they pinpointed what happened, now to identify the cause.  How bizarre...

Does this mean if I give you a zerbert on your cheek you won't feel it?

Paul,
Thankfully they have found out what happened. And Thank Goodness you still don't weigh what you did, you are right the outcome could have been devastating.

I will continue to pray that they find out why so you can prevent it from happening again!!!
Thanks for keeping us updated!!
We Love you too Paul!!

Well knowing what it is kind of gives you a sense of power and control of the situation and that's a very good thing. That way you aren't sitting there wondering what it could possibly be!

So does that mean I can poke your cheek and you won't feel it?   (That's the best poking smiley I could find)

Hopefully all your symptoms will go away soon!

OMG, you are so lucky that it wasn't more serious.  Thank goodness you are okay and there is a drug out there to help.

Paul,

Thanks for updating us, I have been thinking about your situation.  I am glad you are on the right medication and have a definitive answer as to what caused your symptoms and also that you are under the care of a good neuro.
