Newbie Intro
Hi!
My name is Dianne and I've been lurking on this board for a few weeks now. I am almost at the point in my journey where my paperwork will be submitted to my insurance company (Anthem). I will be having surgery with either Dr. Kelly or Dr. Rupp. I have one psych appt. left on Tuesday and then I'll be waiting (and hopefully it will only seem like forever) for my approval letter.
I really believe being a part of a support group will be HUGE in my success and would love the opportunity to become an active member on this board as well as the Saturday get togethers. I am 39 years old, married to an incredibly awesome guy, and have 2 children (Justin, almost 7 and Maddie, 3) and we live in Cottage Grove.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Dianne:
Welcome! Um, well, uh......you should know that it's simply not true that we post-ops snack on newbies when we need protein. Seriously, though, the support you get here on OH and at the coffee gatherings make this journey so much better than trying to do it on your own. There are gentle and kindred spirits here...the very best people I have ever met.
Good luck,
RP

Okay, that was just wrong...
Dianne, Rick wouldn't bite if you took a bat to his noggin.
Join in whenever the spirit moves you! We're a family here - complete with advice (solicited and otherwise), spats, jokes, and tears. You're right - the more support you reach out for, the better your success will be with WLS!

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone! I am very excited to begin this new phase of my life. The first major hurdle for me was giving up Diet Coke. I was a serious, hard-core addict and drank 6 to 7 cans a day, every day. I decided to once my supply was gone, I was done. I know I have some time before my surgery to continue to engage in my addiction, but I didn't want to. Quitting hasn't been as bad as I thought it would, although the headaches I've been having are horrible. I'm happy to be Diet Coke free!
Thanks, again, for the welcome.
Dianne
