How do you feel after eating? And my WOW moment!
Some of you might know that I have had some struggles since surgery (not keeping food down, a stricture, shingles) but I am just wondering if you all feel good after eating? I can't seem to find things that after eating I feel just as great as I did before eating. I now know I have to stay away from dairy, but even other things seem to make me feel almost instantly, not well. Example, slice of toast w/ SF Jam I could eat 3 small bites and I felt sick to my stomach, 1 Edy's SF Fruit Bar, which I used to live on (love "em!!) I now eat half of one and feel sick like I can't finish the rest of it. This feeling is different than when I had the stricture, then my food just sat in my throat, now it seems like it goes down put w/in a minute or two I feel sick to my stomach. Do I need to just push through this feeling and keep eating? I know I am no where near the amt of protein for a day, and all most all the time there would be no way I could get a 1/2 cup of food. I know you're going to say to call the doc. but I just wanted to see if others experience this or once again am I just the weird one!!! And my WOW moment for the day, week and maybe month I now have lost 80 # !!!! Ya me!!! This tool rocks!!!!!!!!!
At eight months I still have problems with meats mainly but everything else as long as I eat it slow and chew really good it seems to digest okay. I have not tried bread, rice or noodles at all? But I do know the sick feeling you talk about. If its with everything you eat, I would talk to your surgeon...especially with your history. Good luck and congrats on the weight loss!!
Although it's been awhile, (I'm almost 5 years out) I had a lot of abdominal discomfort and general yuckiness during the first 6-9 months. They thought it could have been my native stomach over-producing acid and put me on protonix. This seemed to help a little and mellowed the general yucky feeling.
Ended up being more issues related to my colon (large bowel) anatomy and my IBS rather than an acid issue. I use probiotics to regulate my system (acidopholus and bifidus) and it really seems to make a difference. With all the rearanging and antibiotic from surgery zand such -it really can wipe-out your natural gut flora and fauna( the good bacterias we need for digestion.
Talk to your clinic and see what they think.

I have to agree with Kelly - log all that you eat that makes you feel that way. I get that "icky" feeling too...and it is really more of a mild form of dumping...I usually get it when I eat too much fruit or dairy or other things that have simple sugars in them. Bread is a big factor for me - even 2 years out. When you check the label for sugars, proteins, etc...be sure to check for sugar alcohol or corn syrup as well..they can do it to a person as easily as pure sugar can.
Stick with protiens...get them in first and then worry about the rest...it will come.

I'd have to say you should really focus on PROTEIN FIRST. Toast and SF jam? Very little nutrition there, if any. SF fruit bar? None. Milk doesn't do me any favors, either, but what about cheeses? Yogurt (the probiotic types, perhaps)? Eggs, dark chicken, jerky if you chew it like crazy... are all good sources You need protein, and not just from shakes. Solid protein for your stomach to work on might actually be a good thing. Tuna is FULL of protein!
Are you chewing your food thoroughly? Getting stuck will mess with your comfort level in an INSTANT. It is SOOOO important to chew your food to applesauce consistancy!
Good luck to you, and YAY on the 80# down!!!
