Is there a VSG surgeon in the Twin Cities area?

Hi all,

I am very interested in the VSG as the weight loss surgery for me.  I've also posted this question on the VSG forum, so please forgive if you're reading this post twice.

I'm currently in the weight loss program at Park Nicollet, and they only offer the RNY and Lapband.  I've also met with Dr. Buchwald at the University, and he does not perform the VSG as a stand-alone procedure. 

I'm looking for a doc in the Twin Cities area who does the VSG.  If there isn't one, then I'd consider driving to the Mayo clinic if there's one there.  Does anyone have any leads for me?  I'm wondering if Dr. Ikramuddin or any of his partners do this.

But, quick question...why not just go for the full Duodenal Switch?

If you go to the U's support group, there is a gal who usually attends that and she had the VSG. She may be a good resource for you to talk to IRL.

You asked a darn good question, Diamond Girl.  Now I'm wondering why I've ruled out the DS.

Truly, the results just have not been there for the VSG in MN like they have elsewhere in the country, so I'd really hesitate on having the VSG personally. But then again, I had a successful DS with Dr. Buchwald and I would encourage everyone to look at it as an option when researching weight loss surgery. And I fought holy hell & back on insurance for my approval and even that didn't stop me!
