Darla,
I am sure hoping this will end up being a breeze for you.  Pre surgery will be the worst.  The only advise I have is I know after the surgery you will be more tired than any other surgery.  When I had my hysterectomy I thought six weeks - piece of cake!!  Woo Hoo Party!!  Well guess again, I slept more than I knew a human could sleep.  I asked the Dr about that and he said that this was most of his patients said after surgery.  But then each one of us can be different so if you are up and cruising around right away I'll be the jealous one!  I will keep you in my prayers and if I can do anything please let me know.  Think positive and trust God!

Like I said to Reenie, I already had the hysterectomy.  So this shouldn't be QUITE as traumatic.

Thank you for your sweet thoughts, and I WILL trust this to God.  I appreciate the reminder.  It's pretty easy to get caught up in self pity, when I really need to hand it over to Him.

Darla:

I am sorry to hear that you have to through this, too.  On the other hand, it doesn't surprise me that you found a silver lining already, either.  I know you are a strong and giving person, but please let us pay back some of the love and support that has poured out of your heart and into the hearts and souls of your fellow WLSers these past few years.

Take care,

RP

Thank you, Rick.

I have to admit, as absolutely devastated as I was prior to actually TALKING to my doc, I was pretty surprised that it even occured to me to ask about the skin.  I mean, you can imagine the worst-case scenarios going through my brain.

I'm 47, been SMO all my life.  I've never really even bothered seriously hoping to getting rid of the skin, so if that's my silver lining?  I guess I'll take it...

Everyone said it well, especially Rick.  Now is the time for others to take care of you!  I am praying that all will be well.  I, too, am close - let me know if I can do anything to help.

Sending hugs and prayers to you, Darla. My best friend had an almost softball size hard mass on one of her ovaries. Noncancerous. She is our age and responded pretty well to the surgery. I don't think she took 6 weeks off...she has a desk job and went back within the month. We'll keep quick healing in our prayers, and what a bonus to  have the excess skin removed and possibly other things addressed! If you need anything, just add me to the list of helpers!
