Surgery date set!

It has been a very interesting week.  I saw Dr. Kelly late yesterday afternoon and my surgery has been scheduled for August 18th.  I am a teacher, so I have been telling them all along that I need to have this done before school starts.  I was fortunate that there was a cancellation and I was able to schedule so soon.  I am praying that I only have to stay 2 nights, as my son's 7th birthday is on the 20th and I would hate to be in the hospital.  I did explain to him that it is a possibility, however, so he is prepared.

Today I began my 1,000 calorie liquid diet.  All I can say is "Yuck".  The powdered stuff is gross and the bars (I get 5 "shakes" and 2 bars) tastes like chocolate covered sawdust.  I'm thinking when I am able to have clear liquids it will be like having a steak :-)

I am freaking out, of course, but am ecstatic!!  The timing is crazy and is contributing to my freak out.  You see, we leave on our week long family vacation tomorrow morning.  Not the ideal situation to be on a severely restricted diet, but I can stick it out.  I figured if I can't handle this, I have no business having this surgery.

Just wanted to share my excitement at finally getting my surgery scheduled and to see if anyone else thinks the Bariatric Advantage meal replacement stuff is gross.

Thank you, Marsha & T-Rex!  I have been attempting to get to one of the coffee sessions, but haven't yet.  I get how important it is to have the support of people who have been through this :-)

I survived my first day on the liquid diet and it was brutal.  I was so exhausted I went to bed at 8:45 (and I'm usually up until around 11:00).

Don't be surprised if you hear from me while I'm on vacation.  I'll need a lot of support to get through the week!!!
