Help - I'm nervous!

My husband just called and his boss gave him a pair of VIP tickets to the PGA tomorrow and I'm about ready to puke.  I want to go, but immediately feelings of "not good enough" set in and I'm practically in a panic.  From what to wear, to will I get hot, to even being embarrassed about our car.  I have yet to see the tickets or details but it's some Mercedes Benz VIP thing.  Ya, a Subaru Outback surrounded by high end cars.  Anyone have a fancy ride I can borrow?  JK.  I'm sure I'll come up with a dozen or more things to freak about.

Anyway, just need some encouragement I guess.  The VIP aspect is what's got me in a tizzy.

You are definitely good enough!  And you won't be the only car that isn't high end!  I drive by the visitor lots in the morning, and there are lots of "regular people" cars - actually very few high end cars are there from what I can tell.  Mercedes is one of the sponsors so their name is on the ticket or something - there's something about it in today's paper.  The golfers all get one to use while they're here or something.  And just dress cool and make sure to have good sunscreen in this heat!!  You will not be the smallest or largest person there by any means!  I've seen the crowds and there are lots and lots of different types of people there.  Just enjoy yourself and try to keep cool!

Kristy girl, I think very highly of you - but if I was there right now I'd b*tch slap you!   DO NOT drive yourself down that nasty old "I'm not worthy!" road!  Tiger Woods might drive a $100,000 car, but do you SERIOUSLY think everyone there will be in his league?  Shoot...  I'D go in my Hyundai!!  (IF I liked golf, that is...)

GO!!!  HAVE FUN!!!  You are more "NORMAL" than  you give yourself credit for!  Turn off those old tapes,  wear whatever makes YOU feel comfortable and purdy!  To heck with anyone who might judge you based on your clothes or your car - THEY AREN'T WORTHY!!!

Dammit, girl - THE GLASS IS HALF FULL!!!   ENJOY IT ALREADY!!!!!!

Kristy:

My Dad is a retired senior executive and, through him, I have attended several VIP events.  The interesting thing about them is that the truly accomplished, important people are almost all pretty cool people who, if they judge you at all,  judge you by your character, not by what you drive or how you dress.  It is their underlings, the vice presidents of next to nothing, who far more often put on the snooty airs.  My point is you should be yourself as you proudly drive up in your Subaru, be as sweet and honest as you come across here and you will have nothing to worry about.  So what if you don't drive a Mercedes or wear the latest designer clothes?  You have so much more to offer than that superficial crap by just being yourself.

My favorite Eleanor Roosevelt quote: 'Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent."

This is just TRUE!  Don't worry, go have fun and be yourself.  Please don't be so critical of YOU!

Breatheeeeee....

Put on something comfy and hot looking! If you can manage that all in one outfit LOL

Go and enjoy your time and just think of how the tickets were free!

Be proud of your car, some people do not own one, your payments are most likely way smaller then those fancy dancy cars!

Who cares about designer clothes! If they drip ketchup on it, they freak out. You having "normal" clothes will relish in the fact that if the stain don't come out ya only paid 9.99 for it in the first place.

I have attended a couple different big golf events over the yrs. We had a golf pool (kiddies pool) set up for a game, to entertain kids that were there watching the boring game of golf. It was ran by some of the individuals I worked with at the time who had disabilities. The people attending were so nice to them and everyone had a grand old time. They (VIP) are no different then you or I, just a different play face for work.

I hope you enjoy the event and get to attend many more

Thanks all for the reassurance.

We went, had a fun time. Didn't feel out of place at all, just wish I had worn tennis shoes vs sandals.  The parking lot wasn't what I expected. I was worried we'd be going into some Mercedes only lot, that wasn't the case.  We only stayed about 4 hours before my back said ENOUGH.    Had a picture taken next to the trophy, will post if it turns out.

Thank you guys again!
