Food allergy development
I have noticed that since my surgery that I have developed a sensitivity to peanuts very similar to an allergy but not as severe. I've had peanuts several times and have had severe to no reactions. The first time I had dumped was on peanut butter but have been fine since and lately if I eat raw peanuts I sometimes get supper red, hot and a stuffy nose. No other food or nut has brought this reaction on. My dietitian did say that some people do have a had time digesting nuts after surgery.
Has anyone else experienced this since their surgery?
Thanks,
Alana

Well, technically peanuts aren't nuts. They are legumes, like beans. (Sorry, am allergic to tree nuts and am not allergic to peanuts so I'm always defending myself from friends and family while enjoying a tasty peanut butter treat.)
This didn't happen to me after surgery but I developed an allergy to tree nuts in adulthood. It started in my mid-twenties with just tingling in my mouth and lips and by 35 I started going into anaphylactic shock (that was a great day at work!). So maybe it could be an adult onset allergy, just an hypothesis.
