Suggestions for a sore throat?

I know my doctor is the best to ask but I was wondering what suggestions you have for treating a sore throat given our sugar and meds restrictions.

I woke up with a sore throat yesterday morning and now it's worse and I'm losing my voice. I rarely have a sore throat that doesn't involve some kind of head or chest cold. I'll probably go to urgent care after work today because I'm thinking this is strep throat but I still need ideas on what to take or drink to make my throat hurt less.

Hot tea always makes my throat feel better..

And as suggested I'd use Sugar Free throat lozenges of some kind.. the Hall's ones mentioned above usually have a numbing agent in them to help the "hurt" of your throat

I lost my voice for about 4 weeks post op .......the ENT doc recommended increased water intake minumum 64oz and a  cough drops........one that doesn't contain mint or menthol either.....unfortunately that leaves your choices to be very limited when you have to go the SF route.......I used lemon ricolla and they helped me out tremendously!
