Wonderful Dinner
Few months ago I shared w/you all that we got a new cookbook for Post OP WLS. I have made a few recipes out of the book but never followed to a tee. One thing that most all of the recipes call for is white wine. I have never bought wine nor tasted it let alone cooked w/it. So anyway yesterday I sat down wrote down 5 recipes out of the book and we went grocery shopping. Majority of the recipes call for spices and "home made" stuff. Well guess what...99% of ALL my "pre-op" meals were "pre-made stuff" like -- rice aroni, hamburger helper, tuna helper, and crap like that. One of the biggest challenges I have had after WLS is cooking for "2 post ops" and "2 children" and I have no clue how to "cook naturally"....
So....Today I revised a recipe to fit "my needs" (it called for coffee and I can't stand the smell let alone have NEVER drank it). And it said to put in a dutch oven and I put it in crock pot. My next post will be the recipe....
Oh my was it good. And 26 gr of protein for a 4 oz serving. YEAH!!! LOLOL - I had 3 oz of meat and then some of the carrots and 1 red potato. So I know myprotein was bit higher than the 26 gr.
To follow..."Mom's Pot Roast"

Those pre-made meals are what probably got me into the condition that I am in. Those things are loaded with carbs. The homemade stuff is always better tasting (usually) and is much better for you. The problem is that it takes some dedication. It is going to be interesting to see how my diet change once I have the surgery. Are there any good post-op cook books out there?
