Church Program Cover ideas?
Hi everybody,
My hubby's calling for the past two years has been to do the weekly Ward programs...well, let's say it's "our" calling...well, to be honest...I DO the program myself and he and I can be found most Saturday evenings at our ward building printing and folding Sunday's program (tri-fold). My question is...Does anybody out their have a source for pictures that can go with gospel themes? I have some pen and ink type pictures of some of the temples. I have found that the LDS clip art program pictures look too cartoony for a church program cover. Any and all ideas would be appreciated. Two years is a long time to keep things "fresh". Have a great day!

I was given this site, http://theideadoor.com
It has all kind of really nice fun things Hope this helps have a great day. Kaye
You can go to www.about.lds.com and they will have a lot of clip art to choose from.
You can also go to the church website and as long as there is no copywrite problems, you can right click and save the picture to the computer for future use. If I come up with any other ideas, I will pass them along to you.

P.S. welcome to the board! glad to have you and let us know if there is anything we can do help you along the recovery road.
Hello, Ginger!
I have been gone for awhile and am happy to see you here!
We recently were blessed with a new Temple here in San Antonio and the Primary Sacrament Service (proper name escapes me) that year was of course about the temple. They chose a drawing that one of the children had done for the cover of that meeting. My granddaughters picture was the one chosen for the cover. It was of her family and my dh and I attending the temple. Right down to the curl on top of her baby brothers head! lol
She was so excited and felt so important that I talked to the Bishop about using a drawing of a different child each week. It was a great success! The drawings were great and the plus is that it makes the children feel that they are an important part of the ward. That is sometimes a difficult emotion to accomplishment. This was not a contest or reward. Everyone got a chance. Selection can be something as simple as drawing names. Once a child has had a turn they could be ineligible til all have had a turn. Something like that. One of our naughtier little guys was actually better behaved in Primary when his was printed. I think it helped him know he is important and doesn't need to act out. Just an idea. Let us know what you do come up with.

Ginger, I found this interesting because I am a professional graphic designer and recently was called to create the Relief Society monthly calendar for our ward. I have access to thousands of images at work, unfortunately none of them are lds oriented so I myself have been searching for a good source.
If you are interested in pre-printed program covers, try Deseret Book
http://deseretbook.com/store/search?search=program I think that the LDS distribution center would also sell them. www.lds.org
Deseret Book also has some computer software or try this:
http://www.designca.com/lds/ or do a google search for lds clip art that you can download or purchase.

Hi Laurie,
Thanks for the great ideas! I have gotten in a habit of collecting programs from other wards...my parents, brothers and sisters..or just programs left over from other wards. I have some old programs that have pen and ink type pictures of temples. I was told that they came from a coloring book. I also found a great pen and ink picture of Pres. Hinckley out of a FRIEND magazine. The LDS clip art that I bought several years ago..just looks too cartoony to me..but some of the images are very good. I'm not too computer savvy..so I have to tape pictures on the program...once it's printed, who would know the difference right??? Thanks for the great websites...gotta check them out!
Hugs
Ginger
