Gala, I'm an RN and I agree with your mom.....being cath'ed shouldn't cause any pain or discomfort. Sometimes people will have bladder spasms or urethra spasms...maybe that's what you felt. But usually a cath shouldn't cause any feeling, let alone discomfort and pain.
I hope they find out what's the problem.....and I admire your efforts to keep your chin up through so many trials.

I have been praying for a teaching job - I already have 2 interviews set up for friday with 2 different school districts, and on the 23rd I have a training meeting for substitute teachers in my local school district and will get a badge. This will probably be a good thing. Hey, it already got me out of the yucky job!

Sherrie have you been praying for a new job? I ask because a few years ago I had the truly devastating experience of losing a job. I was a single mother and working in middle management. I had been praying for help with finances. I didn't think losing a good job was quite the answer I was looking for. But guess what - It was exactly the answer! I had three month's to look for a job before my contract expired. I found a job that was even better and paid 2 dollars an hour more and I was only without income for three weeks between jobs.
The Lord always hears and answers our prayers. Sometimes they are just unexpected answers!
Hang in there! I will be praying for you !

Thanks Hydi ! We can always use some encouraging words!
I have a picture of Christ I keep in my office that says;" I never said it would be easy. I only said it would be worth it."
When things get me down I try to refocus on the big picture - eternity. It's amazing how many things fade away when we gain a different perspective.
Hang in there gang!

Topic: Encouragement
It seems that everyone is going through some tough trials right now (myself not excluded, but they're minor in comparison) and I thought we could all use a little encouragement. So, here's a couple thoughts to help us survive or to buoy us up. Hope things get better for everyone soon!
"There is no development of character without resistance; there is no growth of spirituality without overcoming."
--David O. McKay
"I wonder sometimes if we are willing to pay the price for an answer from the Lord."
--H. Burke Peterson
"The world is not big enough that you can run away from the testimony that the Lord plants in your heart."
--LeGrand Richards
"The ultimate form of love for God and men is forgiveness."
--Marion D. Hanks
"The winds of tribulation, which blow out some men's candles of commitment, only fan the fires of faith of [others]."
--Neal A. Maxwell
"God...has bestowed upon us the capacity for infinite wisdom and knowledge, because he has given us a portion of Himself."
--Lorenzo Snow
"No obstacles are insurmountable when God commands and we obey."
--Heber J. Grant
"Only if you sacrifice for a cause will you love it."
--Victor L. Brown
Those are just a few of my favorites. I hope one of the touched you.

The job I lost was doing collections. I was not a good collector - I have too much compassion for the people that owe money - Ive been there too many times. I hated it. I've really wanted a teaching job for a while now. Hope it pans out!!

Sherrie,
I don't know about the chest pain but I hope it goes away. You may want to call your dr. to be sure it's nothing serious.
I hope you're able to get that teaching job. What kind of job was it that you were fired from?

I got fired from my job today. That job was the pits, but at least it was income. I got fired because someone called me to interview for a teaching job, and my boss was monitoring my call. Oh well, maybe I will get the teaching job. I have had the worst pain for the last 2 days in my chest area - it feels like somthing is stuck in my stoma - have any of you had this and how do you make it feel better? its not a stricture - food goes down - but it hurts.

Mary did mention that self cathing may need to be done if it is determined that I am retaining urine.
My mom (who is a nurse of 30 yrs) feels very strongly when I had my WLS that the nurses "screwed" something up (that was her comment). Because I was cathed so much in the hospital and nearly everytime it took them 2-3 attempts to get it right something happened in the process. The 2nd time they put in the foley cath I had non stop cramping and pain from the moment it went in to the moment it came out. Which my mom feels is/was very abnormal and the cause of the ongoing problems.
The first culture came back negative for any infection. So I will find out more tomorrow what the 2nd test is. From there I have to be straight cath'd in the office after I have been on antibiotics for 2 days and then an IVP test.
I'm just frustrated!! Very frustrated!!

Oh, man! Gala, you sure must be strong to have trials like this. You're still in my thoughts and prayer.
