A wet and wild time

A local bike magazine and television show had their 11th anniversary party today. It was over in Clearwater, about a 30 minute ride from my house. Instead of shooting right over there, I took the scenic route and rode for about 2 hours before I got there. It was a beautiful day to ride, overcast so that it wasn't too hot, even though it looked like we were going to get wet at any time, it never got us. About half way there I met a fellow biker heading the same way, and it only took a minute to realize we had ridden together before. A million bikers in Florida and I meet up with one I had ridden with before, what are the chances? I get to the party, and there are literaly thousands of people there having a great time, a little booze, some good music, great food(free Bar-B-Q), and the stars from a movie they are shooting here in Florida, "Vampire Biker Babes"; yes that's right, "Vampire Biker Babes". Young beautiful women in little leather outfits,(Imagine seeing that at a biker event) Well, while standing in line for a huge Bar-B-Q sandwich, it started raining, the funny thing is nobaody got out of line, so we all got soaked waiting for free food. Since there was no place dry to eat my sandwich, I ate the thing too fast and ate the whole thing, and then it hit me, I ate way too much, way to fast. So since I had seen everything there was to see anyway, and I was already soaking wet, I decided to get out of there in case I got sick from eating too much. I rode home in the rain most of the way, but the good news is, I never did get sick. I guess God figured riding my bike 70 mph in the rain, was punishment enough for being stupid. Even though I got wet, and even though I almost got sick, I still had a great time. Come on, Free Bar-B-Q and Vampire Biker Babes, who could ask for more, How did your weekend go?

Steve. Sure sounds like you had a great time. Me and a riding friend rode down to the Grand Canyon last year in mid Sept. had a great ride, until we woke up one morning to a "gully washer" of a rain storm. (If you know what I mean) We waited around the Motel for a while, but it wasn't slowing down, so we left. We got soaked, I was wet in places I didn't even know I had. But we had a great time. We look back on it and say, Yes, we did it, and we had fun. This same friend and I are leaving Sept. 2nd on our "Light House Ride". Leaving Ogden UT, going to Reno NV., then to Cresent City CA. then up the Oregon Coast. stopping at all of the Light Houses along the way. Comming back by way of the Columbia River, Highway 84. We have to be back to work on 11 Sept. We figured almost 2600 miles when we get back home. It will be great to be on the road again. Tired butt and all. LIVE TO RIDE - RIDE TO LIVE.......Dean.......

Sounds like fun, Steve! Vampire Biker Babes - who would've thought?! I guess it would make you wonder who they would be among normal attendees at such an event! I can sympathize with the eating too quick and too much. I am still learning the full signal. It usually doesn't hit me for a minute or two after I stop eating, if I haven't over-packed the pouch already. Riding in the rain is no fun, but I guess that balances out the rest of the day, eh? Ride safe, Matt

Hey there.........sounded like a blast. That free food you got, was it sponsered by Porky's? Just wondering cause we went to a free concert downtown to see Kansas play and they had VIP for motorcycles and free bar b que from Porky's. They are suppose to have the NO.1 bike nite out in Apopka somewhere.
