Anyone still riding?

The board is getting pretty quiet! Anyone still riding or does everyone have their bikes put away for the winter? I finally gave up and finished putting mine away. Surgery is Wednesday, so that's a good excuse. Ordinarily I might still get a couple more good days here in southwest Michigan, but they get pretty sparce after November 1. I don't do the cold real well, and don't have the change to drop on some electric clothes/gloves. See you all soon on the losing side, Matt

I used to ride all winter long, when I lived down around Ventura, California. Granted, it was 70 degrees almost year-round. After moving back up to the Northwest, I have discovered that I have really bad arthritis. It kills me to be on a bike for more that fifteen minutes and gloves put my fingers to sleep. So even if I had a bike still, I wouldn't be able to ride. *laughs* ...I keep trying to talk my husband into getting transferred back to southern California again so I can ride.

Pretty damp up there, isn't it? I got a touch of arthritis starting and can always tell when it's going to rain now. Guess that's part of the fun of being over 40. That's part of the reason I'm doing the WLS - my mom's pretty crippled up with it and I'm sure her weight has made it worse. Good news though, since I've started dropping some pounds pre-op and walking more, my knees definitely feel better. In fact, they tend to bother me the days I don't walk. I'm not real fond of being all bundled up to ride in the cold either. It makes me feel less able to maneuver the bike in emergency. We're talking about retiring to the Smokies or somewhere more temperate. I sure hate putting the bike away for the winter!

Naahhh... not damp up here. That would mean that the sun would have to come out for a few days and dry things out to that level. *LOL* ...it is always wet here. Good thing that I don't mind the rain. Isn't it amazing how arthritis suddenly becomes our own personal barometer? Of all the people in my family, I am the only one to have arthritis. Well... at the age of 32. I've been through car and motorcycle accidents, work-related stuff, and then my falls from a young Arab gelding that was half blind in one eye. He'd spook and jump faster than I could react, at first. I finally began to expect things. *snickers* Anyway, I digress... My mother used to just shake her head when I would come shuffling in and say that I had the mind of a teenager, but the body of an elderly woman. The plus side to all of this is that winter isn't all that long. In just a few more months, it will be spring and time to roll the bike back out for another year of riding.

Okay, now I'm jealous! I might just have to trailer it down there and go for a ride after the first of the year!

I'm still riding, I 'll ride all winter long. As a matter of fact, I'm on vacation next week and plan on riding quite a bit.

Hey everyone - I survived! Not that I had a lot a doubt - but was a little worried. This is day 3 of being post-op. I watched American Thunder this morning and got the hankering to go for a ride. I guess that means I'm feeling pretty good considering. The first couple of days were a little rough, but I'm feeling considerably better now. I'll have to wait for quite a while, though. The day of surgery we got 4" of snow. It should finish melting off today, but its still way too cold, even if I was feeling up to it.
