I am so glad that I found this site--I am 57 and having surgery when school is out--surgery date is June 2--I read the other message board and found only a couple of people who were 50+ who had RNY--so glad to read all the encouraging info on this site Barbara

Welcome Barbara, I felt the same way when I wandered in here. It's HOME. It's been 8 months for me - down appr. 135 and 40 more to go (or not). Really happy where I am. I just hired a personal trainer and am just now starting to really exercise and "work". It's actually being fun. I cannot believe that is me saying that! Looking forward to getting to know you better - and congratulations on your surgery date. Great decision!! Jeannie

Hi Barbara, Glad to have you aboard! If you're looking for peers with similar experiences and/or questions that are age-related, you are in the right place. If you're looking for a place to talk with folks who are of an age with you, you're in the right place. If you're looking for a smaller forum where we're getting to know each other, you're in the right place. Any or all of these reasons will suffice. We're glad to have you join us. Cheers, Rusty

Welcome to our Over 50 site!!! Glad you found us!! I am 58, hoping for surgery before too long. Am just finishing up some health treatment (last appointment tomorrow!!) and hope to be re-approved for WLS in May or June. I only log on from work(my home computer is on the fritz), which is 4 days per week. I also log on to the main board, but find this one more to my needs, usually. I find people here to have great humor and kindness, and to be very responsive to each other's needs. So, if you are waiting for the end of school, you might be either a teacher or a student, right? If you have the summer off, that should give you time for recovery. Keep us posted, ask any questions you want, and I hope you find support and encouragement here!!! Nanajean in NH
