Robert;
Glad to hear you're home and on the road to recovery.
I never thought of better gas mileage because I was thinner...

Hey All,
I am home and doing fine. The surgery went well and I had no problems in the hospital except sleeping good. My fellow bypass patients were great and wonderful we were in rooms next to each other and it was great speaking to them to see how they were doing as well as supporting them.
I came home on Saturday and did well. Sunday I had numreous incidents of throwing up and ended up calling surgeon at night to make sure everything was ok. He said that it sounded like I was ok and to wait for today. I seem to be doing better today and I havn't thrown up as of yet today.
Nice day unable to ride it stinks but on the good side I am now a loser and when I ride again I will weigh less. (Better gas milage)

I can't wait to find out! I probably weighed about the same as I do right now when I bought the bike so from here on out it will all be new.

...... I'm curious to see what it will be like to ride once I lose a significant amount of weight......
I can tell ya what I know (and that aint much these days!) .. -85 lbs.. makes a HUGE difference... You will enjoy the ride even more than you do now. Bet ya did not think that was possible huh?? Well it is!!!

Wow - you went all winter without riding? Was that due to weather or your WLS?
I can't imagine going that long without riding. Tomorrow makes 2 weeks since my surgery and I rode the weekend before my Monday surgery so I didn't even go 2 weeks without riding. I've didn't give my body a chance to lose getting used to it. I'll be happy to lose the ballast but have only lost 45 lbs so far. I've always wished my bike was bigger but it was one of the largest production models available. I'm 6'4" and still wi**** was a little longer - I've only got about an inch clearance between my knees and the fairing assembly.
Thanks for the tip though. I'm curious to see what it will be like to ride once I lose a significant amount of weight.

Nice lookin' bike, Rick!
The lights are pretty cool! Riding will help keep your strenght up, just be careful. I had my surgery in the fall and after not riding all winter, my bike really seemed heavy this spring. I'm getting more used to it - but after we lose our ballast I find I need to be much more careful keeping it balanced in the parking lot.
Take care,
Matt

Thanks for the link! I've been to Lost Maples and Leakey a few times. I used to go to Rock Springs a lot. My dad owns a couple hundred acres in Hondo so I go there every now and then. That's almost 4 hours there alone but it would be nice to bring the bike on a trailer or maybe ride the bike and stay for a while. That trip plus the Holy Trinity all in one trip would be a lot.

Rick;
Yeah, I've never had my bike on the interstate yet and it will be 2 years old next weekend.
The Holy Trinity is FM 335, FM 336, and FM 337. It's out past Kerrville, but it's a gorgeous ride. Make sure you gas up before you leave. Last time I did it with Michael, I think there's only one gas station along the way. Here's a link to a map: http://wowirondragons.org/holytrinitymap.html
If you do it in the fall, you've got to stop at Lost Maples. It's the closest we get to fall colors down here and it's awesome.
Regarding the Bowflex, listen to your doc. Take a few weeks off. The last thing you want is a hernia because you pushed yourself too hard in the early days. Stick with walking for exercise for a few weeks. You'll still drop tons of weight...especially being male and all. (It's so not fair how fast you guys lose!)
Blessings,
Jennifer

I've driven through the Hill Country many times but always in a car or truck. Every time I do I think about how mice it would be to be driving the bike instead. I am a member of the Lion's Club and we volunteer at the Lion's Camp in Kerville a couple times a year. I've considered riding the bike there but never have yet. I know some of those offpthe-interstate backroad rides must be awsome! Where is the Holy Trinity - never been there.
I worked out on a Blowflex I bought for about 6 weeks before surgery and I think that helped a lot. I feel like I'm ready to start working out again but my doctor wants me to wait at least two weeks. Considering I feel ready for that, riding didn't seem like much. Maybe I'll run into you on a bike ride one of these days.
