Topic: Bike week Daytona beach
I just got back from Bike week in Daytona Beach. It was everything that I had heard about and so much more. I have never seen so many motorcycle in my life. I was only there for 3 days, but what a three days it was. I never could have done it and enjoyed it as much as I did, pre-op. I put 400 miles on my bike and I think at least that miles on my feet. There were times when I all of a sudden realized, that I had been walking or standing for 4 or 5 hours straight. I never could have done that as a pre-op. And with being thinner, I could now squeeze through places and between parked bikes, that I never could have gotten through before. I also tolerated the heat of being stuck in traffic jams better, now that I lost 175 pounds of insulation. Although I'm sure I would have enjoyed bike week as a pre-op, I don't think that i would have enjoyed it as much.

I hope everyone had a chance to get out there and ride this weekend, I know that I put about 400 miles on my bike since Thursday. And yes Donna, we do have it made, I can ride year round, just another reason why I'll never leave Florida. Steve

Here in Austin the weather is beautiful and we are heading out too tomorrow. It is so great. My butt fits on the seat, and I am loving every minute of the ride.....Be safe everyone.

When we ride, no drinking. It is hard enough to have to watch those not on bikes when you are sober, much less when you have been drinking. When on 4 wheels. someone is the DD. Since my WLS, it is usually me. I dont care to drink much and when I do, It is usually just one drink and I am looped. For us, it is not worth the risk of getting a DWI. I am a nurse and could loose my lisense. DH trains bartenders and teaches the responsibility of selling alcohol. So he would look pretty bad getting a D-wobbly..... I just recently got on the back of the bike we have due to an experience in nursing school years ago. A young guy came in to the ER with massive head injuries brains actually hanging out from a accident. His BAC was double what it should be. I lived with that memory for years, and finally was courageous enough to get on and ride. Just everyone be safe, there are pros and cons on helmets. Just use good common sense, and watch out for everyone. peace and safe riding.

I'm thinkin' I'll have to get mine out this weekend, too! It's been too long. I put it away for surgery in mid-November, so I'm anxious, too! Hopefully the rain will clear off for a while. Hope you get to enjoy your ride!

Saturday is supposed to be nice out here in New England.... My DH is registering my bike as we speak. I told him that we are going riding--I don't care who needs what. I haven't been out on my bike since I've lost 85 lbs. and am looking so forward to it..... You guys in the nice weather part of the states have it made. Will let you know how we make out. d

Funny how all the bike weeks revolve around bars. We look forward to Broken Spoke in Laconia. Usually we get there early have a few and then wait it out. My DH isn't a big drinker/driver and we both manage to have one then have a water or tonic. That way we always seem to be drinking. Drinking and biking just don't mix. Most of the guys we ride with don't drink and ride either. Of course when we land that is a different story..... d

Mine reads ...the b*tch passed your *ss. I love it. The only thing is I bought it last year before surgery. I'll have to find a way to take it way in. It got so many comments at Laconia last year. It was awesome.... Counting down days until spring. d
