Thank you, thank you...... Sounds like your doing great, and yes....do not rush to jump on your bike. There will be plenty of time for that.

wow..another forum I hadn't run across yet. As for me, make it the Yamaha Road Star, or as we affectionately call it a "YamaHawg". I bought it Ebay a couple of years ago and have loved every minute of riding on is since. Last summer a group of my firefighters & I did a 3300 mile "8 states in 8 days" western swing and at the end of the day, my Harley riding buddies were butt-soar and tired....the RoadStar ( with the addition of a Cobra touring seat) had me still ready for another 100 or so. I'd say if you can hoist the GS bikes from the Suzuki line, and the Heritage, you should have little problem feeling in control on a GTX. But, for me, I can't get past that big old radiator hanging our there...so the Road Star became my first choice. As for post-op riding..I'm praying I can tell you all about that come spring!!

Hey everyone - I survived! Not that I had a lot a doubt - but was a little worried. This is day 3 of being post-op. I watched American Thunder this morning and got the hankering to go for a ride. I guess that means I'm feeling pretty good considering. The first couple of days were a little rough, but I'm feeling considerably better now. I'll have to wait for quite a while, though. The day of surgery we got 4" of snow. It should finish melting off today, but its still way too cold, even if I was feeling up to it.

I'm still riding, I 'll ride all winter long. As a matter of fact, I'm on vacation next week and plan on riding quite a bit.

Naahhh... not damp up here. That would mean that the sun would have to come out for a few days and dry things out to that level. *LOL* ...it is always wet here. Good thing that I don't mind the rain. Isn't it amazing how arthritis suddenly becomes our own personal barometer? Of all the people in my family, I am the only one to have arthritis. Well... at the age of 32. I've been through car and motorcycle accidents, work-related stuff, and then my falls from a young Arab gelding that was half blind in one eye. He'd spook and jump faster than I could react, at first. I finally began to expect things. *snickers* Anyway, I digress... My mother used to just shake her head when I would come shuffling in and say that I had the mind of a teenager, but the body of an elderly woman. The plus side to all of this is that winter isn't all that long. In just a few more months, it will be spring and time to roll the bike back out for another year of riding.

Okay, now I'm jealous! I might just have to trailer it down there and go for a ride after the first of the year!

Pretty damp up there, isn't it? I got a touch of arthritis starting and can always tell when it's going to rain now. Guess that's part of the fun of being over 40. That's part of the reason I'm doing the WLS - my mom's pretty crippled up with it and I'm sure her weight has made it worse. Good news though, since I've started dropping some pounds pre-op and walking more, my knees definitely feel better. In fact, they tend to bother me the days I don't walk. I'm not real fond of being all bundled up to ride in the cold either. It makes me feel less able to maneuver the bike in emergency. We're talking about retiring to the Smokies or somewhere more temperate. I sure hate putting the bike away for the winter!
