I used to ride all winter long, when I lived down around Ventura, California. Granted, it was 70 degrees almost year-round. After moving back up to the Northwest, I have discovered that I have really bad arthritis. It kills me to be on a bike for more that fifteen minutes and gloves put my fingers to sleep. So even if I had a bike still, I wouldn't be able to ride. *laughs* ...I keep trying to talk my husband into getting transferred back to southern California again so I can ride.

My fingers are crossed that you get a nice day to ride. Sounds like it would be an awesome ride and one that I would really like to take, if I ever found myself in the area. *snickers* ...I did some Internet searching on the area...

The board is getting pretty quiet! Anyone still riding or does everyone have their bikes put away for the winter? I finally gave up and finished putting mine away. Surgery is Wednesday, so that's a good excuse. Ordinarily I might still get a couple more good days here in southwest Michigan, but they get pretty sparce after November 1. I don't do the cold real well, and don't have the change to drop on some electric clothes/gloves. See you all soon on the losing side, Matt

Congratulations on getting your date, Lois! I remember it was a relief to get mine, after not knowing how hard it would be to get approved. My surgery is this Wednesday and I'm actually starting to get excited about it! I hope you get to ride the Blue Ridge for Thanksgiving - it sounds like a neat new tradition your starting. I would like to be able to come down and ride it during my vacation next summer. Take care and keep your knees to the breeze . . . Matt

Welcome Bobbie! Dr. Baker is performing my surgery on Wednesday! I hope everything has been going well for you. I know you're recovering, but today was an awesome day for a ride in West Michigan! It was 68 here and incredible for mid-November. I wasn't planning to - but ended up taking off for a ride with my son for a few hours to enjoy the day. Reluctantly, I finished putting my bike away for the winter tonight. Time to get the rest of my ducks in a row before the big day! I'd be interested in any feedback you would like to share on your experience with Dr. Baker and your surgery. Feel free to e-mail me. Matt

Surgery will be Jan. 16. Tomorrow is supposed to warm up a bit and I am going to ride. I haven't ridden for about a month because I had arecurring bout of cellulitis caused by my daughter's Katana falling on my leg. I wanted it healed up way before surgery, so I was on the couch with it up in the air for about 3 of those weeks. Yippee, in the wind again. Hopefully the weather will be good enough to ride to the Peaks of Otter on the Blue Ridge Parkway for Thanksgiving dinner like the kids and I did last year! Lois Rockbridge Co.

Welcome to the board Bobbie and congratulations on your loss. I honestly can't wait to be on the other side and planning my first ride. I'm gonna have to steal hubby's bike to do it though. -lol-
