Topic: RE: How long after WLS before I can ride again???
Hi, my doc said it was ok after 4 weeks as long as I wasn't riding a huge hog. At that time I had a V-Star 650, and I tried at 3 weeks, but I just didn't feel quite secure enough, but at 4 weeks, I rode a short distance and did ok. It felt funny going across bumps at first, but just take it easy. I just went out in the garage and sat on the bike with the kickstand up (holding it balanced), and when I felt secure, I knew it was ok. Best wishes, Dorita

Whooooooofff....man I've been sweat'n it here trying to find a last minute room for bike week and low and behold I just found one and booked it. It was their last one too. Talk about putting things off till the last minute. Now I can breath and relax until BIKE WEEK. Can't wait.

Thank you ladies, for the well wishes!! I will let you know how the class goes... Have fun and enjoy your bikes as longs as the weather permits. We are flooded here in California so I won't be in the streets as long as it is wet! Ride Safe!

Good luck on your class. I took mine and I was soooo nervous but it was a blast. It's so worth it. I now have me own too. This bike week I will be riding my own instead of on the back of my husbands. Santa brought us some new bikes for Christmas, I have a 2005 Yamaha V-Star Custom 1100, and my husband has a 2004 Roadwarrior 1700. Life is good now.

You'll love the training class - it was the most fun two days I ever spent. Plus it taught me so much that I wasn't aware of before. I've ridden for quite awhile, but the class was really helpful. I rode a V-Star650 until last month when I bought - yes - a sportbike. All 1000cc's of oomph! LOL. It's a blast no matter what you ride. Best wishes with riding and you will be just fine riding.

Topic: RE: Sportbikes
I ride a 2004 RC51 Hayden edition sport bike - my first litre bike! I started last year after losing over 100 pounds by riding my son's Honda 954RR and fell in love with it. I just bought the last new 2004 Hayden RC51 available and just adore it. I used to ride a cruiser-style bike and had to "handle" it and the sport bike practically rides itself. It is absolutely wonderful and I'm having a blast. (the picture you see on the message post here is my 'before' picture so it's easier to ride leaned over now. LOL)

The motorcycle safety foundation gives a class for passengers which you might check into. All the exercises are done with both rider and passenger to teach both how to work together. I know that if the passenger if "stiff", it makes it more difficult for the rider. My hubby and my son both want passengers to stay relaxed. When their head turns, my head turns, etc. They both are very experienced riders, and that is their biggest "thing" - passenger needs to be relaxed. Hope this helps. But do check out the MSF classes - they're really good.

Hi Kim, My husband owns a Kawi z9 ,he had it for almost two years, I was just to big to get on his bike. He just got a Harley Springer Classic in December, it is very nice. Since I am down about 85lbs, I love riding on the back of his Harley, I still don't want to be on the back of the sportsbike. I just bought a Harley Sportster 12 custom and I am not able to ride yet. I got my permit, I have my motorcycle training class next weekend and I am so excited!! I just cant' wait to be riding myself around town. I know that it will be a blast! I am a little nervous. It has been years since I have rode a street bike. I hope I don't wreck into anything or anybody. Wish me luck!

Kim, Just wanted to say HI! - It would be fun it this board would get going. I ride with Mark on his Honda Valkryie. If someone had told me 2 years ago I would be riding on the back of a motorcycle in Dec, Jan & Feb - I would have laughed them out of the room. But I love it! Mark has talked about going to Bike Week but its still in the maybe stages. Have a GREAT day! hugs - dea
