Hey...anybody out there in musicianland??????
I know this message was orinally posted quite a while ago - but I guess us new people keep popping up. Music is my profession also. I'm a violinist. Don't do much performing anymore - mostly teaching, but I love the teaching more than the performing. I'm scheduled for surgery on 3-23-04 and I'm very curious to see what losing all this weight will do to my violin playing. Have always been overweight and I think it's always affected my playing some. Glad to know there's other musicians out there looking for help and support with their weight problems. Are all of you going though/ or went through the surgery? How has it affected your music?
Just wanted to say hi! I posted a while back...saw a few tumble weeds blow threw since then, but that's about it.
I'm a singer. I've done musical theatre and I used to sing in a band. I did rock, blues and folk.
My surgery is scheduled for April 27th, but the time I lose my weight I'll be almost 40...so I think my time of fronting bands has long passed...bu****ch out kareoke world here I come (ah the sad plight of the former singer).
Either way, singing brings me great joy. Breathing properly gets harder with every pound, so I'm looking forward to expanding my lungs again! (Drop the diaphram (sp?) Rachel...ah I miss my days of vocal training!
Talk to ya,
Rachel
Hey Rachel, I'm posting way after you but I also LOVE musical theater. I was in Oliver in our local theater group. Today I'm trying out for the part of Maria in The Sound of Music. We'll see if I get it.
I also sing in a Jazz/Big Band group Called Tsunami Swing. Have totally found that as I have been lossing weight that I have been able to sing better and have had much better breath support. So woooohoooo.
I know I've seen your picture on the CA board so Hi again! Hope all is well.
Smiles,
Jenny Young
