I am Valerie is my name and I love music. I have a powerful voice and I agree that they look more the skinney ones out there. When I get my but off the table I will most cerntinally be a star if God welling, so please pray for me. Look for the soulful Dupree singing hit tunes about life it self. I am dying to get into a bikini, never the less i know that I need to work at it. Although I have never been small, I remeber someone telling me that my voice was great but that I needed to work on my weight. keep me posted and I you, sell your first cd and I promise to buy it or we share fame of just being beautiful GOOD LUCK

COOL!!!! I didn't know this site was here. I'm not surprised to see that it is so barren though.......The sad fact is that people want to see 'Bikini Babes' on stage so there aren't that many of us big girls on the circuit. I am an entertainer in Nevada. I play keyboard & guitar, and sing lead and we perform at various casinos throughout the state. I've been doing it for 13 years now and I love it, but I can't WAIT for the time that I have surgery and lose this weight!! Everyone says I have a great voice, but I know the weight REALLY holds me back. I've auditioned and missed out on a few gigs to skinny chicks that can barely carry a tune, but they LOOK good.... Just wait til I can wear those sexy outfits!!!

Hi Gail! I am scheduled for surgery May 7th and I am also a violinist. I play in the Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra which is near Traverse City. I hope your surgery went well and I wish you success!! Robin Ronk

Just wanted to say hi! I posted a while back...saw a few tumble weeds blow threw since then, but that's about it. I'm a singer. I've done musical theatre and I used to sing in a band. I did rock, blues and folk. My surgery is scheduled for April 27th, but the time I lose my weight I'll be almost 40...so I think my time of fronting bands has long passed...bu****ch out kareoke world here I come (ah the sad plight of the former singer). Either way, singing brings me great joy. Breathing properly gets harder with every pound, so I'm looking forward to expanding my lungs again! (Drop the diaphram (sp?) Rachel...ah I miss my days of vocal training! Talk to ya, Rachel

I know this message was orinally posted quite a while ago - but I guess us new people keep popping up. Music is my profession also. I'm a violinist. Don't do much performing anymore - mostly teaching, but I love the teaching more than the performing. I'm scheduled for surgery on 3-23-04 and I'm very curious to see what losing all this weight will do to my violin playing. Have always been overweight and I think it's always affected my playing some. Glad to know there's other musicians out there looking for help and support with their weight problems. Are all of you going though/ or went through the surgery? How has it affected your music?

I guess you can say I'm in musicianland......it's what I do for a living. I graduated with a B.A. in Music - and have been performing, accompanying since I was about 3 years old (now 34!!!).

wonder if anyone is still reading this...just found it. I sing folk, blues and rock...had a 2 man acoustic thing for awhile and a blues/rock band called Little Rock before that. My weight has brought my stage fright back though. Looking forward to getting back to it. Rachel

Just an old wandering hippie troubadour myself. I taught myself to play guitar when I was fairly young. Got my first gig playing a picket line at a chemical company my father worked at when I was 7. Made the evening news when they parked a low boy trailer across the road and stopped the traffic. The picketers surrounded the trailer and wouldn't let anybody in or out of the refinery. Busted on my first gig! Played all around the world, but mostly europe, northern africa and eventually ended up in the states where I met my wife. She was intrigued by all my weird instruments like dulcimers, and old time banjos and she settled in alongside and we commenced to playing festivals across virginia, nc. md, dc and wva. We made an album (remember those) and eventually stopped the touring after a few years when I got a good city job with the local library system. So here I sit, still playing, but not for money anymore. For the kids and the squirrells, and having friends over for a ceilidh where a good time is had by all. Mainly I play old time mountain, old old country (Carter family) anything folk and some celtic and a dash of blues
