Hi, I had Lap band surgery in May 18. I started out at 285 - now I'm 240. Lose skin is falling around!! After you get tot the goal weight, my surgeon sill probably take some skin off the pannus, and the thigh.
I skin is very brown, and scars easily. So I'm not too interested in it anywheres else.

Yeah!
thanks for pointing out things that are true but easy to ingore. My family are all hard workers and keep busy; but we still all struggle with our weight. my mother (white mountain - apache) is diabetic. she fights hard but won't give up sweet breads and sodas. she was not raised to drink water.
I am having wls to change my body. I am also careful in how I feed my family. I rarely give my children white grains or garbage food. they are young still and are learning to love veggies and fruits. Maybe us youngers can raise a generation of children who are strong and healthy.

So who wants to share with me?
My surgery is 15 Sep. I have studied hard and have all medical facts but wonder how my skin will do.
Will anyone share thier experiences with loose skin?
I have my mothers gorgeous skin color but I am dry.
I am secure and confidant with my RNY surgery but the thought of possible skin surgery spooks me.
I am 5'5" and 260. Anyone like me?
Topic: RE: Native postees where are you!!!!
My mom always asks "who has time for computers?" Nobody! :0)
My mother came from White Mountain - Apache in AZ. I am married and living in MD.
My Children are wonderful. Daughter Sienna is 4yrs and Son Cedar is 2yrs.
My surgery date is 14 Sep. Can you offer me direction and advise? My husband is very supportive (but worried) and my will is strong. I am having this surgery for me! But my mother would be upset that I am altering my body. So this is my secret til she asks. I won't lie to her - just wont offer information til its done. But I am good with all this.
I am 5'5" 260. I worry about loose skin.
can you share with me your experience?
thank you
Selina

I'm Cherokee. I haven't been to a Pow Wow yet but my brother and his 2 girls go several times a year. My brother is very into our Native American heritage. He speaks some Cherokee and is also teaching his 2 little girls. He loves teaching and learning from others about our heritage and I could pass on his email to you if you like. I will stress I saw that you married into the culture and my brother would respect that so you wouldn't have to worry about him flirting ect.

Cathy,
I have never visited this board before. I saw your last name and said I know a Heckman that went to Mt. Edgecombe. So how do you get your Yu'pik food down here from home? I thought about ordering fish and having it sent down here but I'm afraid of the cost. I also live in NC (originally from Metlakatla). Anyway, I have tried fried bread. I ate a very small porton of it and did fine. You have to eat in moderation instead of like I used too (3 pieces). I hope all is well with you!
Topic: New here
Hi! I am new to this particular messageboard but not to obesityhelp.com. My name is Nora and I had a RNY June 14th 2005. I have lost a total of 46lbs pre and post op. I am doing great and do not regret the operation!
I am 1/4 Northern Cherokee Indian! Nice to meet you all!
Topic: RE: Starting my life at 48
Hi well I am a little slow at messages here sorry for that. I had my surgery on May 17th and I am two weeks out now. I am down two sizes and feel pretty good about things. I just keep telling muself it is for health reasons and not weight. Doc says weight will come off if I follow program. So I am working on eating protien and fruit and veggies. Water was tough to drink but I am getting better at it. I am tired alot though. Were you at first? I do walk around two or three blocks a day and feel good about it. Seems walking makes me feel better. It is nice to meet you also I hope to continue. what part of Idaho do you live?
