Topic: RE: Any Navy wives out there?
Hi Everyone!
I'm a Navy wife! I had my surgery on 10/2/2003 and am down 111lbs so far. I had it out in town since the Navy had suspended doing the surgery at Portsmouth for awhile. My husband is on the USS Nassau and we live in Chesapeake, VA.

Hubby is a TAR aviation mech stationed at Andrews AFB. He has been there almost 13 years!! So..we know our time is up this time. Have no idea where we will go from here. All of my family is here. I was raised in Southern Md, Mechanicsville area.
I am currently trying to get all the tests Tricare requires before I can sumbit. I have done the psych eval, endocrine clearance (waiting for results), and tomorrow will have the upper G series done. I have had a heck of a time just getting Tricare to schedule the darn appointments! Took three weeks for them to call me back with the EGD appointment.
If approved, my surgeon will be Dr. Elariny in Arlington, VA.
Hugs to all you fellow Navy wives!!

What I liked about the area where I lived is the trees. We lived in Mechanicsville and there were a lot of Amish people. I use to go to their "farmers market" and get fresh produce and flowers. It was very quiet and a good area to live in. When we built our home we purchased 4 acres, and we built a beautiful deck on the back which looked out into the trees. I miss my house terrible! LOL We are living in base housing now, so nothing can campare once you had your own home.
I guess I just liked my house and the trees LOL I am originally from Hanford, CA (by Lemoore NAS), so it was nice to have trees and you never had to water your lawn in MD
So no, your not missing anything. I didn't care for certain areas myself, if the truth be known.
I love it here where I am living now. We are right by the ocean, we have hills, and beautiful farmland. The people here on base are really nice also. I found in MD, that people kept to themselves a lot. It was hard to make friends there. When we arrived here, all my neighbors came over to welcome us and so far, I really like Ventura area.
I looked up your profile and I seen that you are driving to Bethesda and WR. I have drove that a few times myself. It always seemed to rain buckets when I had to go. LOL
You must be getting excited about having WLS soon. Your going to have to keep us informed on how it goes.
I just am starting the process. I need to get a PCM here and get the ball rolling. I am hoping that my PCM will not send me to a nutritionist first. I hear they do that sometimes.
Sorry so long. I wish you the best on your upcoming WLS!

We have been here for about a year. Came from Whidbey Is. WA. I was living in San Diego until I met my husband, four years ago. I actually don't much like the area down here, but I love my house. We are considering retiring here. There seems to be a lot of civilian job opportunities if we do.
What did you like about this area? Maybe I am missing something.

Hi Lee,
No we actually were stationed at Andrews AFB, but we built our own home in Mechanicsville and we loved it there! When dh came up for orders, he tried to get Pax so we could keep our home, but there were no billets open for him.
I did all my shopping at Pax and in California (town). How long have you been stationed there??

I am a Navy wife who just moved from So. Maryland to Point Mugu, CA.
Lisa ~ I lived right by Dahlgren and my house shook when they would do their testing/training.
My dh also has 3 years left in the navy until he retires.
I have been wanting WLS for a while now, but I am affraid that tricare will not cover it. I just arrived here to Point Mugu, and have not yet picked out a PCM. I have a lot of spine problems, so I am hoping that WLS won't be a problem to get approved. Any suggestions would be great from you ladies.
