I agree they may be just trying to scare you, but I have found that what they want you to realize is that this isn't a magic wand and the weight won't magically disappear. The surgery is a tool to help you but we still have to make good eating  decisions after the surgery. I have lost 100 lbs and it's easier to make the right decisions now, but I still have to work at it every day. Good luck! ... it's all certainly worth it.

Good morning, I am not from Fredericton, but I did have my surgery done by Dr Boisvert in October 2014.  In 7 months I am down 100 lbs and its absolutely amazing.  Dr B was great, although I would say a little hard to read on my first couple of appointments, but I think he wants to ensure people are ready for the surgery and doing it for the right reasons. I have talked to some others that have gone to him and they found him the same way but I don't mean this to be disrespectful to Dr Boisvert, just letting you know how some of us found him to be. He's great and I think of him almost as a god. lol   There are some up and downs with this surgery, but I am so thankful to have had it done.

I had all my tests done here at the Sussex health center. Just ask Carole when you are up there and she will arrange it.

I have t stayed at the pavilion yet but plan to the night before my surgery. I've been told it's a really nice spot. And you can't beat the price!

No surgery date yet.  I had some blood work done last week and I had a first meeting with the dietician.  She told me that after I meet with her twice, she will send a report to the surgeon and I will then get a call for a consult woth him.  She said the whole process takes about 6 months, so I suspect my surgery will be some time in November or December.

He just talked about what the surgery consisted of, went over some family history. Stuff like thst and asked if we had any questions, etc...  Honestly I can't remember everything he talked about but it's not a bad meeting at all. Doesn't really take long either.

Where do you live?  I live in Sussex so I have 3 1/2 hour drive too

I hope I can see the anethist on Tuesday as well. Save me a 3.5 hour drive. What exactly does the surgeon go over? The team meeting was pretty in depth that I half wonder what else we have to talk about lol.

Hey.  Congratulations on getting this far.

I will speak for myself here as I know that waiting times vary.  I had my initial consult back on November 27th, and now my surgery is June 8th with dr savoie. The reason I have been so long is because when I had my preop testing, it was discovered I am a type 2 diabetic. So had to wait awhile. I think normally once you see the surgeon and do your preop testing, and the anesthesiologist, it isn't long. I'm sure others will agree with me.

Good luck!!!

hi kim,

like i said, don't worry much about the weight. totally normal that people gains a few lbs, so much excitement, emotions questions, thinking you better eat now in case you can never eat again haha. i've been there.

i don't know why they would treatned to cancel surgery for a few lbs, probably just to scare you. don't worry much, just follow the liquid diet and you'll do fine. :)

they just want to scare you enough to make sure you don't eat what your not suposed to during this 2 weeks process. it will get easier, and for a few weeks after surgery, you will probably feel that even if you don't eat the rest of your life, you'd be ok! LOL

i really wish i could go back to that stage!! enjoy every moment of this journey as time flies and you will be where you want to be before you know it! :)

sorry i don't come here too often , but feel free to message me anytime!
