I am going thru the program at Mission Hospital - Regional Surgical Specialists. Has anyone else gone thru this program? What was your experience? Did they take longer than 6 months to get your surgery complete? Thanks for all replys.

Hi........I grew up in Western NC...Asheville to be exact.......but I'm pretty familiar with Swan-na-no-where....sorry.....coudn't help it!! I didn't even know Mission had a program!! Welcome to the board!

Hey, I am from Waynesville. I am going to have my surgery in Hickory with Dr. Monty Cox. I went to the seminar at Mission at first but then I decided to go to Hickory since they are a center of excellence with my insurance company. My surgery is July 30. I cant wait.........It has been around 8 months since I started but some of the delay was because I could not have the surgery in June. I was approved in May. Good luck to you.

Hi, Sorry I cannot help you with the Mission Hospital program?! I live in Mount Airy, NC. I had my surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. I hope all goes well with you! If you have any questions be sure to ask me. I am 7 years post op. There are many good things and numerous down sides to the surgery so NEVER take it lightly! It could save your life! Wow. Its great to hear from others near by. Thanks for all the replies. I am considering Hickory, but don't really want to start all over again. I will check out the new doc at Mission and if I don't fell comfortable with him, then I will change. Better safe than sorry. Bye for now. Debby

Hey Debbie, I';m from Hickory. I'm just beginning this process! YIKES! I'm still trying to decide between bypass and the band. UGH> ASO much infor to injest. I've just about made my mind up though. Dr's Cox and Cook, HickorySurgical Clinic are in Hickory, The ONLY docs that do it.Great reputation. Eileen
