Ok! I need a reality check!

My md's office submitted my packet on monday the 1st and BCBS has received it. I called today to check on the status and they said the nurse had it and was "investigating" some information. I don't know what the heck that's code for, but it was pretty straightforward from what I understood w/BCBS...now I'm practically in hysterics...ok,not really...but I could be! So, what is a decent amount of time to expect to hear back...what the average. The customer service actually told me that it generally took 48hrs...well heck...come on people! Alright thanks for letting me vent. Sabrina

I worked in insurance for years at our local hospital. MOST claims go under medical review. Especially if they will involve a hospital stay. I would not worry too much Sabrina. BCBS just has a few criteria and if you have met all of those you should be in for sure!! Come down off of the ledge my friend. It is just and insurance tactic. :)

While many may clear the medical review in just a couple of days, don't worry. When I had mine done, first they had to check to be sure all of the information was there. Then, they submitted it for review.

I know that the waiting is enough to drive a sane person 'round the bend, but I'm sure it will be done soon.

I think they are using the incorrect word When something it submitted it either goes to review or pends for "additional information"... I would call back today and see what they say. As for customer service saying 48 hours... dont know where they pulled that time frame from... Id just call back again :-)

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

No, I was using the exact words the customer service rep used, they might have been using the incorrect terminology...I don't really know.

BCBS cleared me for surgery 5 days after they received all of my paperwork from my surgeon. Hang in there--they have to confirm everything. My doctor submitted my five year weight history at least three times before they said they had it. Nerve wracking I know but it will happen! Good Luck!
