What can we take for cold/flu...yep, its happened!

I knew it was too good to be true.  I've avoided it for over a week and the husband's flu I think has jumped on me today.  I've slept most of the day and I am still sooooo tired.  I've done really good with the fluids and food since the hubby got it, but now nothing sounds good to me.  I just can't stand to be sick!  Especially after feeling so good since my surgery in November!!  (boo hooo   )   Now the REAL deal.. Break it down to me about what I can take for this.  I know its too late to take the tamiflu, and I know we have restrictions like ibuprofen ...  I need something for these symptoms! headache, sneezing, coughing, stuffy nose, freezing, hot, you know...that fluy stuff.   I've heard just today on News14 that in the Triad area this flu is just before reaching "epidemic" stage!  so ya'll up there... I went to my PCP and got a B12 shot and some antibiotics.  I also took Theraflu Caplets to relieve the symptoms.  But the rest and fluids helped a lot too.  I just had to ride it out Connie... I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Jennifer.  I decided late last night to drink some theraflu and take some regular tylenol.  It made me sleep ok, but this morning I'm already stuffed up again.  My head is the biggest problem.  It feels like it is floating and sinking at the same time.  ughh.  I hate this!   I'm glad you feel better.  Your avatar is awesome!  you are so beautiful!

My advice may not be good, but I take NyQuil.  I haven't had any trouble with that.  It does make my tummy hurt a little sometimes, but I think it is b/c I take too big of a swallow.  Sorry you are sick.  Get well soon!

My husband took Nyquil, but I just am not ready to do that.  I'm scared to do it because I don't know how it will make my pouch feel.  I hope you are doing better now.  Thanks for the well wish.  I appreciate the suggestion. 

I was diagnosed Tuesday with the flu.  I was given Tamiflu.  I take that as well as nyquil/dayquil.  Nothing helps!  It stinks!  I hate it, I feel awful.  Good luck!  And know, others feel your pain.

I hate it too!!  I hate hate HATE being sick...especially since nothing right now seems to be helping.  I hope you start feeling better soon!  My doctor's office didn't have any appointments and told me to go to Urgent Care.  I opted to just try to do this at home.  I honestly cant drag my body to get dressed.  I'm drinking some hot buillon and that is the only thing that seems to open up my head.   Sending you good healthy hugs...  I feel your pain too!

Thanks so much Donna!!  I do feel horrible.  Please do keep clear of anyone that is sick.  I knew once my husband got it, it was a matter of time for me.  I am still really trying to fight it off.  Yesterday I slept all day....today I don't feel like sleeping.  Keep your hands washed or keep some antibacterial gel with you all the time.  I really do hope you avoid it.  it is uuuughhly!   Look at your new avatar!  You look great!  Keep up the good work!    Thanks for the well wishes...I appreciate tham and you! Call Tammy at Dr Bauman's.  Many of the flu medicines have ibuprofen, asprin, or other bad ingridents in them.  It might be ok once or twice, but if you take something and it gives you an ulcer your screwed. I've been fighting ulcers since June.  Over 6 months.  I did get a flu shot, but Tylenol is pretty much it.  Even sinus and flu medicien can make you really sick.  Please call and don't try to treat yourself. I regret these stupid ulcers every day.  Especially when they flare up.
