Home and doing well!!!
Hi Angela,
Great to hear that you are doing well. I'm sorry that you had a hard time with the back pain, but make sure to keep walking as much as you can ... at least once an hour. It helps to disapate the gas and ward off problems with pulmonary embolisms. Also, be sure to keep sipping constantly. CHeck with your Dr., but generally they are most concerned that you stay hydrated at first, followed by protien. Most folks don't get in 'all' the protien required right away. Generally, you work up to it and do the best you can. You'll find that as the swelling in your healing pouch goes down, you'll be able to consume more and more.
Be gentle and consistent. It will continue to get better.
Welcome to the loser's bench.

Regarding the protein, try mixing it in sugar free orangeaide or lemondade. It got to the point after my surgery that I couldn't drink the Ensure/Boost, so we mixed the two scoops of protein powder into the orangeade, etc and I could drink it. It's all about trial and error to see what works for you. So far, James is doing ok with the strawberry, vanilla boost and protein powder... It sucks, but keep in mind it isn't forever!!!
Anyway, take care and I'll try to call you later... glad to hear you are doing well!!! (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) Melinda
