Update on my psych evaluation situation...

Hey, that sorta rhymed!

First of all, I just want to say, the support and help here on this forum is just astounding.  Thank you all so much for your very informative replies regarding the psych eval thing.  Everyone was super helpful and I was glad to realize I did need to look into this choice a bit deeper.

After my post, I received an email from casargirl recommending Suzanne Trollan from The Counseling Group in Hickory.  She had a very good experience with her.  They are located, if I'm seeing the map correctly, just right around the corner from Frye.  Also, a quick Google showed that she spoke about body image at one of the support sessions last April.

So I gave The Counseling Group a call this morning and made two appointments with Suzanne.  The first is 1 week before my class and the other is the morning of my class, so I can kill two birds with one stone that day.  :)  The first visit I am to pay $150 and the second visit $110, which will both be immediately electronically filed to apply toward my deductible, which should take only 1.5-2 weeks.

I am now a happy camper!    Now I just need to get ahold of Dr. Carr's office to cancel that appointment, which I hate doing because Jackie was just sooo very nice.

Thanks again!

That is good that you are a proactive consumer. I was fortunate that my psych only required my copay ($15) up front and filed with my insurance. They did require me to pay with cash or check though which meant I could not use my flexpay card but I can file for reimbursement for that so no problem. We do need to shop around even for medical care.

Hi Ann!  :)  What a fabulous deal, lucky you!

I just had this feeling of hesitation about choosing the one based on convenience of location, ya know?  It seemed terribly expensive, though every cent would go toward my copay.  And, I had noone's prior experience with this psych to go by.  Sort of like going in blind with $704 in hand, not knowing how quickly that would appy toward my copay!  AND, 3.5 hours.  Wow.  I am so glad I got such a good feel for other's experiences and ultimately, I feel, a good recommendation.

I feel so much more confident now!

That is great and I would hesitate to tell Dr. Carr's office that they are just to darned expensive.

Take care, Pam
