Things are better

The task master struck again today at UNC.
When I arrived I found mother totally out of it like she was drugged.
I called for the nurse and got to ask my million questions and come to find out she had not been given any meds except antibiotics for a lung infection.
She does not have a collapsed lung.
Her doppy state is because she is in the early stages of going through withdrawls.
I made the head nurse aware of her drinking problem and they now have an order to give her ativan if she starts with the DT's.
Her aftrnoon nurse arrived and we got her up and she seemed to perk up some.
In fact she was telling my brother how terible I was because I would not go get her any cough drops at the gift shop OMG I was waiting for the doctor to come talk to me.
Thank you all for your kindness and understanding during this stressful event in my life.

Sounds like you're Mom is getting good care thanks to her amazing daughter. Sorry to hear about the withdrawals - I know that's got to be tough on both of you. Keep us posted.

I am so glad to hear that your mother does not have a collapsed lung. I'm sorry that she's going through the painful ordeal of the the DT's but, I'm glad that she is in a safe place where she can be effectivellyl cared for and hope that she'll be able to benefit from the process in the longer term. Please know that she truly is not in her 'right mind' as she goes through this painful process and I am sure that once she is she'll see things more clearly. She may never fullly know what you have done today, but you will and so will your family. Hopefully, she will begin to heal soon.

Continue to take care of you as you care for your dear mother.

Wishing you the strength and peace necessary to do what you need to do.

Love,

Barb

I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Annie.  I am the daughter of a recovered alcoholic.  It has been 26 years since I went through what you are going through now but I still feel the pain just as fresh as if it happened yesterday.  My Dad has not had a drink in those 26 years and we have had time to make up for all of the bad stuff.  God was good to us and he will be there for you and your family also.

Thanks Ruby for your kind words.
I am happy that your dad is doing so well and you have had some quality time to make up for the bad.
We had another switch in her mood last night she got mad at me for telling the doctor she is an alcoholic and told me not to come back to the hospital while she was there.
I have developed a tough skin and I calmly told her that would be fine because I have to work the next three days.
