Hi everyone,  I know you havent heard from me in a while but, I have been here and reading everyones advice.  Thank you all!
I had my 3 month check up today at Duke WLS and can I say wow!  I have lost 59 lbs in three months.  They said I was above average.  Group was great I brought my 14 yr old daughter and she told the group she was very proud of me.  I wanted to cry right there but, I knew it wasn't the place.  So, I took her shopping tonight (she still is clueless about why I took her shopping, LOL).  So, I have been given the okay to eat my pastas, salads & bread.  I feel so blessed with my new life.  I wanted to share this feeling with you all because even though I don't chat often I still feel like I know you all.  So, thanks again
Liz

(Oh my gosh, I hit "delete" instead of edit!  lol  Sorry!)

Liz,  Thanks so much for sharing your awesome 3 month success!  A loss of 60 pounds in the first 3 months post-op is the magic number I am holding on to, hoping that is what I will acheive.    Latched on to it while doing my research so when I hear of someone else acheiving just that, it gets me all excited!

That is super sweet of your daughter to confess her pride in mom!    Shopping was the perfect reward, whether she knows the sentiment behind it or not (but I bet she does!).  Taking my 15yo daughter back-to-school shopping this weekend.  I remember putting my mom through trying to find the perfect fitting jeans...she would be wore out after the many trips back and forth to the dressing room for me...now I'm getting my due!

Enjoy your new "okay" foods and the continued blessings that are sure to come!

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

You are the first person I have encountered here that had the surgery through Duke.  That will be me too, soon, as my info has been sent off for insurance approval after over a year of jumping through hoops.

What is this about "group"?  I'd LOVE to have a group to go to to learn and talk and get support.  I've asked and been told about evening talks monthly at Durham Regional but it does not sound like a support group.  Can you give me some info?

thanks!

Cindy
