I'm still losing weight ...

To be honest, I have always had to struggle to keep my weight down, not up, but now I'm really having to 'work' at keeping my weight from dropping anymore. I'm not whining, but I don't want to be any thinner ... never thought I'd say that! At any rate, I've adjusted my caloric intake and I get between 1600 to 2000 calories a day, averaging about 1800. My weight isn't dropping like a rock, but it has still been dropping about 1 lb a month for the past few months. I'm not quite sure what to do. I really don't want to keep losing. Any ideas?

Hey Barb,

Sorry to hear of your dilemma, and I hope I have that problem one day.  One thing I wanted to mention is that the DS docs can give us DSers enzymes to stop the weight loss by aiding in digestion so we don't malabsorb as much.  I'm not sure if this will work for RNYers, but I would think it might in smaller amounts since your malabsorption isn't as extensive.  Perhaps you can try this as a last effort.  What about adding more fruit or other complex carbs in small doses?

I hope this info is helpful, and I wish you the best.  Besides, you can't get too small for your mother of the groom dress!!  Regardless, you'll be so beautiful!

All my best,

Hey Angela,

Thanks for the information. I may look into it if I can't get the weight to level out any other way. I actually have added more protien, fat and carbs. I'm getting about 1800 calories a day, so I'm not sure.

Again, thanks for the info ... And don't worry I've just lost a couple of pounds since i bought that dress and it still is a pretty tight squeeze.

I'll miss seeing you at the next meeting.

Take care,

Barb

I actually have a friend that has needed to use that stuff. We used to look like mutt and jeff because she was so tall and skinny and I was so short and fat. I haven't seen her since the surgery and will be seeing her when I go back to CA. As we've gotten older, she's filled out and she now wears a size 4/6 ... who would have ever figured that we'd end up the same size?

How are you feeling?

Actually, I did a while ago and that's how/why I consume as many calories as I do and I upped the fat and carb content, but apparently, it's still not enough. I guess we'll have to revisit.

thanks,

(((((HUGS))))) Barb.
I hear about this happening all the time, and most of the people I've talked to "level out" after a few months.  My understanding of the protocol with this, is to meet with your NUT and also your fitness trainer, so work together with them you can set a goal of calories/exercise and go from there.

LIke I said, I know none of this first hand, but wanted to wish you the best and give my support to you.

Hi Lisa,

I'm not really dropping quickly anymore, but since I've upped my calorie intake, with additional carbs and some additional fat, I really thought it would level by now. I keep being surprised when I step on the scale and see it drop. I remember that I used to be so excited to see each pound melt away. Now, believe it or not, I think "Darn, I lost another pound!" I never thought that would be an issue for me.

I'll be contact my Nut again to see if he has any more ideas.

Thanks again ... I always appreciate your support.
