Respect after wls

I have been noticing something when I am in the public.
I have started noticing people mostly men are paying attention to me.
They are doing this by little guestures such as a wink or a smile ect..
Oh My this is uncharted territory for me.
So I was thinking do we get more attention and or respect after wls and as we beome normal size?
It dosent seem fair but we live in an age that is so caught up in looks.
I have been up since 6:30 walked the babies and am going to get on the treadmill soon.
I am feeling tired from this past week but will do my workouts and maybe treat myself to a nap today.

Oh, Annie,
You always give me smiles...  Congratulations!  The question is - will you return those smiles to those men?  or do you know that all men are evil?  LOL  I am only kidding - I am sure there are some good men in the world - just not in mine!

I do think that our society is geared to shunning the voluptuous.  (I don't like the word obese).  It is a shame because each of us on this earth has something to share - we have opinions, we are intelligent, we have compassion and humor.  And we have feelings that get hurt and hide hurt from the outside world.

A nap sounds like a wonderful idea.  Have a great day and just see how many winks and smiles you can catch in a day!

Hi Sheila,
I never liked the word obese myself but when obese changed to super morbid obese thats when I had to really take notice.
Do I smile back well sometimes mostly because of my job and having to interact with the public.
Let one of these men say or make the wrong move what out I will have to quickly put them in thier place.
I am married to a very loving man who has helped me find a life again.

Annie,
Hey this is so true.  I work for a bank and before I was the fat teller with a mouth LOL.  Now I include in their conversations.  I've done bank before in the mortgage loan department, my husband is a builder, I hold a Realestate Brokers licsens and worked at the Beach for 7 years selling ocean front property, been to college and raised around DC, my sisters work in the Gov, one has been in the White house since Regan.  I like to think I know alittle something, except how to master a computer and cook, LOL.  Well all this being, I was ignored during conversations unless it was about food.  Now that I am slimmer oh yea I could be one of them.  Thank you not.  Yes men certainly treat you more like a intelligent lady when your thin.  The drunk one**** on you different also (I live in  tourist area with bars and a boardwalk on the docks) when your fat well (excuse me here) most times they hit on you cause they are lookin for a ******* (I have heard that remark made a few times that fat girls are desperate and good for them) I worked a bar in my much younger thinner years.  See it's ok to talk to skinny girls about this.  Now approaching a skinnier girl is much different, they do it cause they think your hot so they are more, or think they are, more devonare'.  It still grates on my last nerve, sorry thats why this is so long.

Lynn,
What an intresting life you have led.
As I have gotten older I have learned that many men like us to feel they are Gods Gift.
My question to them is if you can talk the talk can you walk the walk I dont think so.

I am so glad to be happily married and not to have to worry about who or what i****ting on me or why. When I get skinny I can just smile and shrug them off. Okay its my fantasy that I will get hit on but let me have it anyway.

As far as respect from everywhere else I really hope it happens for me. I need a job that pays a living wage and not be thought of as someone so desparate for a job they can pay me nearly nothing and I will take the offer.

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

My opinon is if we get more looks or attention after wls we should know in our hearts how hard it was to get there and be proud of ourselfs.
It is unfortunate that we cant get this so called attention before.

I happened to be watching FOX news last night and they were joking about at new game called, Fat Princess.  Of course it did not sound like a very nice game and the one guy made some off comment about of course some one will fuss about the name.  Whatever happened to treating woman or people with respect.  I can't believe we let marketing companies get away with what we teach people is ok to say and how to act.

Annie......first off I wanted to say they're probably looking at you because you ARE a pretty woman with a calming, beautiful personality.  But, not all men see that.
When they started looking at me and men close that I work with make comments, it really freaked me out.
Now I see that they're just being "dogs", which some men do, it makes them feel bigger.
I just walk on by with my head up like I'm stuck up because they want a reaction to their stare I think and I'm not going to give them the satifaction.
They sure didn't want to look at me before............I'M THE SAME PERSON- DUHHHHH!
As you know, the good ones are the ones like Lee and my DH, who love you no matter what.
Take that nap!!  You deserve it!!

Nancy
