I have gotten a few negative vibes also but turn a deaf ear.  They are usually either misinformed or negative people in general.    Nobody's gonna rain on OUR parade, right?!  RIGHT!

i purposely didnt tell people for the reasons you mentioned above. i had my gall bladder out also so i just told them i was having my gall bladder out. ( well i didnt lie *wink*)

I found that a lot of the negative stuff came disguised with the "I'm just worried about you..."speech. - Worried about me my aching tuckus - they don't want me to be smaller than them. Jealousy is a strange beast. I only want to be healthy - this journey has nothing to do with a size or a goal weight to me.

You're so ready for this - like you said "no time for haters". this is your journery and we're all here for you every step of the journey. Lean on us as often as you need.
